10/10 A Teacher with brain and heart

By Matteo / Sherman Oaks, CA

It's already an honor and a pleasure to know Dr. Cheng; to have him as an instructor is superlative; he makes you feel welcome to his lessons, and he constantly encourages you, he motivates you, he patiently explains what you do wrong without making you feel stupid, he is contagious with his passion for kettlebells -- and first and foremost he teaches you The Right Way to do every exercise. Safety for his students is paramount, and that alone is something you can't put a price on. He always teaches you with his brain and with his heart: a rarity, among teachers.

10/10 Outstanding!!

By John Spezzano / Los Angeles, CA

I am a life long martial artist and teach martial arts for a living. With many years under high level instructors, I am VERY picky when I choose a new instructor. Dr. Mark Cheng is an OUTSTANDING kettlebells coach. His understanding of the human body from being a doctor of Chinese medicine, martial arts from a life time of combative study and instruction, and a specific understanding of Russian kettlebells combine in such a way to make him a truly incredible instructor. I am constantly impressed by his detailed and motivating instruction and have and will continue to recommended him to anyone interested in kettlebell training.

10/10 attention to detail

By David O'Donnell / Burbank, Ca

Dr.Cheng's approach to teaching and trainning is highly motivating.
He has a commitment and an attention to detail that I admire.
It's a pleasure to know and train with Dr.Cheng

10/10 of Art & of Science

By Ben Fung, sDPT / San Diego, CA

It is truly an honor and privilege to study under Sifu Mark Cheng. I first met Dr. Cheng at a martial arts seminar in San Diego where Sifu Cheng introduced me to KB's. Since studying with Dr. Cheng, I found his knowledge and understanding of the arts to be immeasurable and his application of science (such as biomechanics and anatomy, which are inseparable from KB training and Martial Arts training) to be impeccable.

His passion and knowledge has spurred me on towards scientific & medical research of KB training.

My honor and thanks to Sifu Dr. Mark Cheng.

10/10 NO BACK PAIN!

By Amy Wunsch / Newhall, USA

Dr. Mark Cheng is fantastic! I am a physical therapist and have been practicing for 10 years. Every time I would work out with kettlebells or perform an RDL I would feel a tightness in my low back that would eventually become painful if I didn't cut my workout short.

I was worried to take my HKC as I was coming off a back injury that had caused my right leg to go numb. I went to the certification course to see what I could learn and thought I'd just be easy on my back. To my amazement I was able to do dead lifts, swings (double and single arm), cleans, snatches, goblet squats, front squats, offset loaded front squats, and get ups PAIN-FREE for the 1st time ever and my residual back pain from my previous injury was RELIEVED.

Dr. Cheng taught me and my colleagues to see what I had been doing wrong - I broke to early at my hips and directed the kettlebell down instead of trying to throw it behind me. He used cues that were meaningful to me and helped me to automatically change my form. Most importantly, he taught me how to see and feel when I was doing something incorrectly, and fix it on the spot. I have since been able to apply this with other exercise tools - I no longer have SI joint pain or low back tightness with barbell loaded single leg RDLs or good mornings.

What I learned from Dr. Cheng through the HKC certification has helped me in my own personal journey, and has also proved to be invaluable for my patient population. It is amazing how many people just need a few small cues to get their glutes to fire and take the stress of their backs.

Thanks Dr. Cheng from Amy Wunsch, MSPT and from the patients of Results Fitness Physical Therapy!

10/10 A man you need to learn from.

By Cody Bartosh / Santa Clarita, United States

Dr. Cheng's approach to teaching made for a very relaxed learning environment. It was not lacking in intensity, but relaxed in that it was ok to make mistakes and ask questions. He made complex movements easy to understand and teach with simple coaching cues that we can use immediately with our clients. His knowledge is impressive to say the least. Thank you for making me a better coach.

10/10 Results core value "Exceed Expectations"

By Kathy Mascaro / Valencia, CA, usa

Dr Cheng definitely exceeded my expectations. I was looking forward to the weekend as I am always excited to learn things to bring to our clients. Dr Cheng has an incredible amount of knowledge, giving a perfect combination of instruction and prac app with excellent cues that I plan to use daily.

10/10 HKC at Results Fitness with Doc. Cheng

By Craig Rasmussen / Valencia, CA, USA

Dr. Cheng is a great teacher with an incredibly broad base of knowledge. He makes every single thing that he teaches very practical. He also has the unique ability to make some very complicated topics simple and easy to understand. Without a doubt, this was one of the best staff trainings that we have ever had (and we have a lot of them!). Dr. Cheng is someone that you need to learn from!

10/10 Completely impressed

By Mike Wunsch / Results Fitness., USA

As the Director of Training, Program Design, and Group Training at Results Fitness, I have the blessing to attend several con ed courses every single year. I have many certs to "keep valid". This weekends course was by far the sinlge most impressive con ed I've been to. There was an excellent balance of advanced cues, followed by the simplest of cues. The amount of learning I attained coupled by the sheer volume of "stuff to do Monday" was outstanding. I absolutely recommend this course to anyone serious about changing the way fitness is done. Doc Cheng has my utmost respect and my highest level of recommendation. The course was to teach, not to crush, a view I repsect greatly.

10/10 Dr. Mark Cheng at Results Fitness

By Rachel Cosgrove / Santa Clarita, Ca, USA

Dr. Mark Cheng came out to Results Fitness to take our team through the HKC certification. We are already a group who attend numerous con ed courses, certifications, watch DVD's and are constantly on a quest to better ourselves. Of all the courses we have taken this certification was among the top, most practical courses we have ever been through. We all learned a ton. Mark took the Results Fitness Team up a notch as coaches. His knowledge, professionalism, insight, presentation skills, ability to coach and teach exceeded our expectations(and we had very high expectations). Thank you "Doc" for making us all better coaches!

10/10 15 , Outstanding Instructor/Teacher

By Mike Zoetewey, MS, C.S.C.S. / Lakewood, USA

Dr. Cheng is one of those rare teachers/instructors where you wish you had a video camera to document everything he teaches to you for later so that you can absorb more of what he is teaching. He is up there with Gray Cook and Dan John in terms of putting complicated yet simple methodologies in a language that the lay person can understand and implement.
I had the opportunity to learn from him recently at his Ketllebells Los Angeles workout. We only worked on one exercise/movement (Turkish Get Up) and he spent the first 75 minutes taking the class,of widely varying experiences, through many different progressions before we even lifted an actual weight. His attention to detail and coaches eye are unmatched. In addition he has a gift for integrating the "why" in with the "how" a movement is done. As a coach and teacher myself this was invaluable. He didn't just take us through a workout to work us out but he spent the time to teach us to understand the movement so that we can better replicate it on our own.
I hope to learn from Dr. Cheng again soon and would have no problem recommending him to anyone who wants to learn how to move better not just with Kettlebells but movement in general.

10/10 As good as they come!

By Tony Gracia, RKC / Portland, OR, USA

I was lucky enough to work with Dr. Cheng when I was at my RKC certification in Chicago in 2011.

He was a fantastic instructor who offered everything I was hoping to get:

- technical instruction
- eagerness to teach/coach
- help troubleshooting
- awareness and appreciation for safety
- being humble yet confident
- the ability to not only teach me how to do the lifts, but help me be a better instructor to others as well

The bottom line is that you are interested in learning to train with kettlebells, you would be hard pressed to find a better instructor than Dr. Cheng. I only wish I lived closer to him so that I could see him more!

10/10 Impressive experience

By Nate / San Carlos, CA

I had the honor and pleasure of attending Doc Cheng's presentation about the four knots at Hardstyle Ventura this past weekend (Nov 6&7 2010). Doc presented the material and gave us time to practice the movements to understand what our clients should feel when working with individuals who are "quad dominant" and lack t-spine mobility. It also helps that his presentation is entertaining!

Anyone can put clients through a beat down session but not everyone has the ability, knowledge and experience to improve a client's mobility so they can enjoy life outside of a gym. Doc has these attributes and more. If you ever have an opportunity to hear him present or train with him, seize that chance!

I look forward to working with him again soon. Thanks Doc!

10/10 Great Teacher

By Fabio Campisi / Siena, ITALY

I had the opportunity to work with Doc Mark Cheng during my RKC certification in San Diego. Great trainer, great teacher, great technique and outstanding coaching skill!
I really learned a lot during my 3 days course, mainly thanks to him.

I hope to see you soon,
SEI UN GRANDE DOC!

10/10 My goal was to learn from the best!

By Nancy Caceres / Duarte, California

Before meeting Dr. Cheng in person I did a lot of research on kettlebells and instructors in the Los Angeles area. Intimidated by all the information and disappointed from other instructors I finally arrived to one of Dr. Cheng's sessions. I went home knowing that with his direct approach and simple way of teaching I was going to learn from the best.

I just past my HKC and it was amazing! Everything Dr. Cheng taught me from technique to safety was a carbon copy of the instructors that day, which confirmed to me that I was learning from the best. I am excited to be one of his students, he inspires me to lift heavier and to become mentally stronger. Dr. Cheng is a funny guy, but not to be confused with serious training. Anybody want to learn from the best, He's your man

Thank you for your strength and wisdom

10/10 Great teacher!

By Jay H. / Seattle, WA

I was in LA recently for an extended stay and was lucky enough to have a private lesson with Doc. We went right to the fundamentals of the dead lift and swing and my technique improved greatly. Very fortunate to have that experience.

10/10 GET UP!

By Alex Hugi / Minneapolis, MN

At the HKC on 4/11/2010! We learned the Get Up for the best! Mark is a great instructor and it was an honor to learn from him!

10/10 When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

By Nathan Senter, RKC I, CK-FMS / Chicago, IL

Humility is described as the quality of being humble; modest, not proud, doing something out of the goodness of your heart, not for yourself. Humility lacks ego. It is this singular quality that describes the approach and method of Doctor Mark Cheng. He was an instructor when I went through the RKC in 2007. He was there to teach again when I went through the CK-FMS weekend. And this last weekend I had the distinct pleasure of working with him at an HKC Certification here in Chicago. When someone has put so much time and effort into their craft, the knowledge is dispensed with an ease that lends itself to genius. Doc would never admit to this due to his humble nature. To me, it is his greatest attribute. It is what makes him so approachable when you are searching for the answer. He speaks TO you. He looks you in the eye and makes doubly sure that he has answered your question fully. Doc doesn't over-instruct. He observes, processes, and dispenses only what you need to get to that next level. He engages you, challenges you, and ultimately demands perfection in a way that inspires you to give it your all. Again, he would never admit to this, for he is a humble man, a gracious host of knowledge, and the type of instructor I aspire to be. Thanks Doc.

10/10 Excellent!

By Paul Gorman PTA, ATC, CSCS, HKC / Indiana

Wonderful instruction from one of the worlds leading authorities in movement. I suggest everyone seek out the opportunity to learn from Dr. Mark Cheng! His instruction and mentor-ship are unmatched.
Thank you Dr. Cheng

10/10 Terrific Instruction

By Mike Dorsch / Detroit, MI USA

I was fortunate enough to attend the Chicago HKC where Dr. Cheng masterfully assisted Jon Engum. His presentation of the get-up was terrific, not only the steps but why each detail mattered and how the get-up has evolved. He has a keen eye for the small things that make a big difference, and always had a simple correction to help make the adjustment easy to do and understand why I was doing it. Dr. Cheng's style was always friendly and with a smile no matter if it was general instruction, correction or a complement. Such a wealth of knowledge, my only regret is that Dr.Cheng works out of LA, 2000 miles away!

10/10 Great Depth of Knowledge

By P Johnson / Ann Arbor, MI

I had the pleasure of learning from Dr. Cheng at the HKC in Chicago. It was obvious the depth of knowledge he has not only with kettlebells but with the movement/function of the human body. He was focused on the maximum efficiency of work with the safest methods. It was great to have the exposure to his thoughts if only for one day.

10/10 world class.

By Matt Maher, RKC / Red Bank, NJ

I just returned from Dr. Cheng's most recent seminar in NYC, and I couldn't be happier. I've been in the 'fitness industry' for almost ten years, and I haven't run into many people as positive, passionate, and truley caring. My technique on the basics improved almost as much in a few hours than it did at my RKC certification. One of the reasons I'm looking forward to CK-FMS, and a new addition to my list of major influences in the RKC community.

10/10 Just Plain Brilliant

By Kerrie Buck / Adelaide, Australia

In January 2010 I got the chance to participate in Dr Mark Cheng's Adelaide Kettle Bell workshop. It was amazing. The amount of detail that Mark was able to cover in the 2 day workshop, whilst making sure that we all understood what was going on and getting our technique correct was remarkeable.

Dr Mark Cheng has really re-opened my eyes to why I love doing what I'm doing and I may only be new to the industry but having people like Mark who are willing to stop and answer the questions I have and show me hints and tips and different ways to do things makes me think how lucky I am to have the opportunity to work with such great people.

I left the workshop with a wealth of knowledge that I have been able to incorporate into my training and the training of others confidently, which wouldn't be possible without Mark's brilliant teaching ability, confidence and charisma!

Anyone who has the chance to attend Mark's workshops should take that opportunity without any hesitation. I certainly look forward to the next workshop by Dr Mark Cheng!

10/10 Amazing teacher

By Heath / Telopea Downs, Australia

I had the honour of attending Dr Cheng's 2010 Adelaide workshop. Having tried for a couple of years to get to one of his workshops I was expecting to gain a lot from these two days and I was not disappointed.

The Doc covered everything from deadlift mechanics and foot position right through the TGU and Snatch etc in amazing detail. Everyone who attended left with a much deeper understanding of Hardstyle training and it's application.

I was lucky enough to be the guinea pig for his FMS introduction and I continue to be amazed by how much there is to be learned about this system. Dr Cheng presents this information with a passion that is contagious and I cannot wait to attend any further workshops presented by him.

If you value honest, down-to-earth presentation and excellent teaching skills, you owe it to yourself to attend a workshop with Dr Cheng. Very highly recommended!

10/10 One of the Best Ever!

By Duncan Maxwell / Adelaide, South Australia

Yep, its true, Marks ability to communicate his vast knowledge has made him one of the best movement coaches in the business. And how about his ability to back it all up with exquisite demonstration skill... Wow!

It isn't often that you come across someone who covers all aspects of teaching and coaching with such excellence and to top it all off, he's of great character as well. I am very much looking forward to working under your tutelage again Doc.

10/10 Gifted Teacher, Mentor, and Friend!

By David Ebert, RKC / Franklin, TN

I first met Doc as my Team Leader at RKC Aug 2009 and knew nothing about him. I am very grateful now that he was chosen for me as my Team Leader! There are some things words can not express but I will do my best here. Doc is a very dedicated and excellent teacher of the RKC! He moves you to perfection not just by his teaching and wealth of knowledge and experience but through his intensity, sincerity, passion and his heart! He makes you want to do and be better as a student and instructor! I look forward to the next chance I get to train and be taught by Doc and you should too! I not only consider him my teacher, mentor but a friend and brother! Thanks Doc!

10/10 An enigma, wrapped in a mystery, wrapped in a beard.

By Jordan Vezina RKC / Palo Alto, CA USA!

Dr. Cheng has over 100 perfect 10.0 reviews. That's not an accident. When I first met Mark it was hard to get a handle on where he was coming from. What I didn't realize at the time was that this was because it's like trying to get a handle on an elephant. There's more there than you realize. Wait, no. Think of an invisible elephant. That makes more sense.
I've had the pleasure of working with Mark several times now, and each time I pick up on something else I didn't know about him before. He's a PHD, a practitioner of ancient martial arts, an RKC Team Leader, he's probably a space cowboy and I just don't know it yet.
One thing you may be struck by is the one quality that I think drives all great instructors: Humility. A willingness to listen and learn. He does not require that he be the center of attention.
If you have the opportunity to train with Mark or attend one of his workshops you should seize upon it.
'Seize upon it' sounds more dramatic than 'sign up now'.

10/10 Goodbye Shoulder Pain

By Candas Jones / Valencia, CA

I thought shoulder pain was something I just had to live with. After 20 years of swimming, and climbing, my shoulders were revolting from abuse. Dr. Cheng taught me how to engage my muscles to pack my lats and open up my shoulder joints through the Arm Bar and reaching and packing techniques with the TGU. I repeated his techniques for my shoulder a few times a week. In two weeks, for the first time I was able to complete 30 min of 30x30 VO2max using the snatch, pain free. Goodbye shoulder pain, hello lats! All I can say is Thanks Doc! My shoulder works now. I sure learned so much in 90 minutes.

10/10 Undisputed Fitness benefits from the teachings of Dr. Mark Cheng

By Angelique Midthunder / Santa Fe, New Mexico UNDISPUTED FITNESS

I was introduced to Dr. Cheng through a mutual friend who is an Olympic Gold medalist in Taekwondo. I work and play at a Mixed Martial Arts gym in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dr. Cheng was generous enough to do some one on one work with me on my form, which I was able to bring back to my gym and share with the athletes who train there to make the most of their work outs, while preventing injury and gaining better results from kettlebell fitness routines. Thank you Dr. Cheng!! Your teachings are priceless!

10/10 I am an RKC thanks to Dr. Cheng

By Kyle Rourke / Palos Verdes Estates, CA USA

I first met Dr. Cheng at the Inosanto Academy back in November 2006 at my first kettlebell class. He was teaching and Pavel was there also. I only able to take 2 classes because my work schedule changed so I did not get a chance to train with Dr. Cheng until May of 2009 when I was getting ready for the RKC.

I was certified in Girevoy Sport but I was having a hard time due to old martial arts and military injuries. Two guys from my Jiu Jitsu academy kept telling me about the great results they were getting training with Dr. Cheng and how he cleaned up their techique.

When I went to his class he pointed out all the mistakes I was making. As a personal trainer, I really respected his eye for correct form. Every class he tested us on our snatch test. I was having a hard time but with Dr. Cheng's tips I could feel myself improving with each class. Dr. Cheng really prepared me for the RKC. He is the best at teaching the Get Up.

If you want to have the best form you must train with Dr. Mark Cheng.

10/10 San Diego Team Leader

By Timothy Spencer, RKC, NSCA - CPT / Goleta, CA. USA

Dr. Cheng was my team leader for the 2009 San Diego certification. He has a true passion for the RKC system and its advancement both through increasing the knowledge bank and by making sure that a standard of excellence is maintained by upcoming members of the organization. His attention to detail and his honest hope for everyone on his team to succeed shone through strongly in his instruction!

10/10 Best training session ever!

By Matthew B / London, UK

I had the opportunity to train with Mark for a 1h private session while travelling through LA. I cannot tell you how much I learnt. We worked on my fundamentals solving an aching knee I've had for ages. I never thought this would be possible in such a short time. Mark's attention to detail, his in depth knowledge and his teaching style make training with him a unique experience. If you have recurrent aches and pains and you go through LA, go and see him and you won't regret it!

10/10 A mentor and a brother; I trust my mother training with Doc.

By George Samuelson, RKC II, CK-FMS / Hamilton, NJ USA - www.thisfeelsgood.com

I've had the pleasure of attending workshops and working with "Doc" directly for a great portion of 2009.

Every time I work or speak with Dr. Cheng, I am humbled by his knowledge and his passion for teaching. Those two reasons are why I seek out any workshop of his that I can attend or host a workshop to give my clients' the same experience that I so crave for in learning.

My gold standard in an Instructor is if I would send my mother to train with them. If they do not possess that intangible passion for their clients' success and genuinely care about them, then they don't pass that test.

Dr. Cheng certainly meets and exceeds that gold standard.

I am honored to be able to call him a mentor and a brother.

I highly recommend scheduling a session with Dr. Cheng if you are in his area or attending one of his workshops. He will provide you with many "a-ha" moments and give you the tools needed for you to succeed!

10/10 Workshop with Mark Cheng

By Robyn / Connecticut, USA

I attended a workshop a few weeks ago with Dr. Mark Cheng. Being a kettlebell instructor for a few years now, I wanted to meet with Dr. Cheng to try his methods and hear his thought process in regards to the way he trains his clients. I feel the more knowledge you have the better instructor you can become. Doc's movement patterning is extremely interesting and I feel should be used by doctors world wide. It makes a lot of sense.

I found that learning Doc's way of doing a Turkish Get-up was a different approach which lends itself to be a more powerful exercise than what you get from a 'traditional' TGU.

Personally, Dr. Cheng is an excellent instructor, he gets his point across in a clear and precise manner. He is easy to talk to and truly takes the time to answer questions and work indivdually with each person in the group.

Dr. Cheng gets a 10 from me for sure!

10/10 Kettlebell and Functional Movement Patterning Seminar

By Paul / Connecticut, USA

I was lucky enough to attend Dr. Cheng's "Kettlebell and Functional Movement Patterning" Seminar back in July. I was impressed with Dr. Cheng's kmowledge and teaching ability. Doc has the ability to break down movement patterns that everyone can undersatnd, no matter your level. His use of tactile cues during the seminar were fantastic, definately a great teaching tool.

I highly recommend attending one of Dr. Mark Cheng's seminars. I think all students and instructors, no matter what branch of Kettlebell certification you train under, will benefit from his teaching methods.

10/10 Doc is OUTSTANDING!

By Adam Farrah / Middletown, CT USA

I was fortunate enough to have "Doc" do a seminar at my school, Modern Self-Defense Center, in Middletown, CT. His presentation and depth of knowledge is completely outstanding!

The seminar was "Kettlebell and Functional Movement Patterning." I'd heard great things about Dr. Cheng so I was looking forward to the seminar for a while. I was absolutely NOT disappointed! Dr. Cheng is a fantastic teacher and has an understanding of the details and intricacies of movement that is inspiring and humbling at the same time.

We spent most of the morning working on a SINGLE movement pattern - The Squat. I think everyone there, including myself, thought they knew how to squat. The fine details we got from Dr. Cheng were really eye opening.

The immediate impact Dr. Cheng had on me and my training from this one "simple" set of drills and corrections was:

1) My deadlift immediately felt stronger after working these new movement patterns with him.

2) My hips and hamstrings felt noticeably "better." I'm not sure exactly how to define better. All I can say is that the new movement patters I learned for the squat from Dr. Cheng had my hips feeling noticeably "lighter" and more open. I'd describe the sensation as very similar to the feeling I get after a really good yoga session. My flexibility and my circulation felt noticeably better.

From the squats we moved into the Kettlebell Get Up. Again, I learned A TON about movement patterns in this seemingly simple exercise. In particular, loading the lats and opening the thoracic spine. Once again, it was a humbling, frustrating and absolutely inspiring experience to "crawl" through an exercise I've been doing for a long time and considered myself to be well experienced with.

Interestingly, when we finished the Get Ups my shoulders, chest and upper back felt great. I had the same feeling in my upper body that I had in my lower body after the squats. Amazing what moving properly can do for you!

From the Get Ups we moved into one and two handed Kettlebell swings. Again, a deceptively simple movement done correctly created a great learning and training experience.

The swings were actually my favorite part of the seminar. Mainly because Dr. Cheng really picked on me and my form. He also made me train ALL my sets with the 32kg Kettlebell because I was "MSDC's resident Kettlebell coach." It was great and I learned A LOT about firing the glutes to propel the Kettelbell in a swing.

Throughout the day Dr. Cheng did a great job of tying together the movements we were doing with the basics of the squat we practiced at the beginning. It was really cool to see where the squat movement patterns were in the Get Up and the swing and all the other things we do as gireviks and martial artists.

Dr. Cheng is an outstanding teacher and is absolutely full of knowledge about human movement patters. And he's completely accessible, funny and friendly. Thank you, Dr. Cheng and thank you Chris from MSDC for hosting him!

If you have a chance to work with Dr. Cheng DO IT! You won't be disappointed!

Adam Farrah

10/10 "Train to improve your body's performance in your sport AND in the rest of your life"

By Chris Wright-Martell / Middletown, CT USA

With my 20+ years of Martial Arts training, I've been to more seminars than I care to count. These days I'm extremely selective, and I make it a habit to spend my precious time and money only with those who come with the highest possible recommendations. This was the case with Dr. Mark Cheng, and while I heard only outstanding things about him, I think it's possible that they still didn't do him justice.

The material and his presentation of it was mindblowing, from start to finish. When Dr. Cheng and I spoke before the workshop, I described the knee and lower back pain that I experience as a result of my Savate Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. By mid-morning, he had equipped me with the tools to rehabilitate myself and to prevent it recurring. Since our training last month, I have not experienced it again. I'll repeat that: since our ONE DAY of training last month, I have not experienced my recurring knee or back pains.

These days, the instructors who impress me the most are the ones who manage the crowd well. At our workshop, we had everyone from complete neophytes and non-athletes to experienced RKC trainers, as well as KB trainers representing a number of different organizations. If I may be so bold as to speak for the rest of the attendees: every single person was helped. Not a single attendee escaped without some 1-on-1 attention from Dr. Cheng, typically in the form of some detailed technical refinements, challenging individual exercise to improve this or that detail, and some hearty personal encouragement.

Dr. Cheng was all the things that you'd hope for in a presenter: he was clear and understandable, he was personable and approachable, he sought audience feedback, he invited and answered all questions, he was engaging and funny, he was immensely capable himself, he was personally involved in each participant's success. He taught masterfully. Late in the day, after a particularly challenging but successful exercise, he joked with the crowd, "How you like me now?" We love you now, Doc, and we can't wait to do it again.

10/10 RKC is now a pillar of Israeli krav maga functional strength and conditioning training

By David Kahn / Princeton, NJ USA

Mark,

I wanted to thank you for the phenomenal seminar you were kind enough to sponsor with the help of George Samuelson at our Israeli Krav Maga U.S. Training Facility. Beginging with high-school and college football, I have always tried to follow a serious (conventional) strength training program. I have sampled many variations and strenght programs over the years to compliment my training in instruction of Israeli krav maga.

After the good fortune of meeting you and George, my training program, and, perhaps, most importantly, my thinking toward functional strength and conditioning has changed for the better. Following your training regimen, my balance, strength, and conditioning have definitely improved. I feel better from head to foot with my lower back giving me fewer problems.

I cannot recommend the RKC approach highly enough for those looking to develop functional speed and power along with superior conditioning -- and fight conditioning at that. This is not just the proverbial killing two birds with one stone, but rather three! The RKC approach improves ballistic movement, strength and power -- all while harnessing the body's core platform to force every muscle group to work in concert.

I have recently returned from training in Israel with Grandmaster Gidon. I could not help but wax poetic about your functional strength and fitness approach to Haim and his senior instructors. Simply put, this is a non-pareil strength enhancement and conditioning program that anyone serious about maximizing his self-defense capabilities should look into. Our students very much look forward to your next seminar with George.

Best,

I have had the extreme fortune in my life to always learn from the best instructors. This fortune has given me the disposition to never settle for less than the best, and Dr. Mark Cheng in my opinion is the best kettlebell and movement instructor I have ever come across. He possesses an abundance of patience, teamed with crystal clear instructions and correctives that spark a roller-coaster of "a-ha" moments. Rarely have I come across an instructor who competence is on such a high tier that I make serious evaluations in my own teaching strategies. I have already implemented many of Dr. Cheng's correctives to improve my own student's abilities in WingTsun kung fu. In my information-dense sessions with Dr. Cheng, my own kettlebell practice feels like it improved worlds beyond where I was before. In addition to his phenomenal skill as an instructor, one would be hard-pressed to find a kinder, more generous human being. Dr. Cheng is whole-heartedly endorsed by City WingTsun Kung Fu!

10/10 from an ordinary blue collar worker's perspective

By Dennis Nakaji / Rialto, California

I have been attending Dr. Mark Cheng's KBLA Sunday morning training sessions for a few Sundays now. In those few sessions I was able to make a major breakthrough in my two handed swing. Implementing Dr. Cheng's superb instruction and remembering his excellent corrections, it was one of those rare, "oh I get it", a light turns on moments. I was able to apply this newfound technique to my one arm snatch and felt the same effect. I have been working with kettlebells on my own for a few years with books and videos as my instructor. It wasn't until I took the opportunity to work with Dr. Cheng and his fantastic group of RKC's, that I realized how much more effective the two handed swing could be (when under the watchful eye of Dr. Cheng) and how it carries over to all the other kettlebell exercises.
I now feel for the first time that I can really reap the benefits of kettlebell training and get my conditioning to a level I never thought an ordinary non athlete/martial artist (just an ordinary blue collar worker) like me could get to. Also, I have the tool (and the knowledge to use it), that I can use in my battle with my unwanted body fat.
I thank Dr. Mark Cheng and his KBLA RKC's for the most excellent instruction, the best I have ever been through. This comes from the dozens and dozens of training classes and seminars I have attended over the past 30 years for my work.
I strongly recommend getting to a KBLA Sunday morning class, your kettlebell training will never be the same.

10/10 Rocking Delaware Like George Thorogood

By Sandy Sommer, RKC / Towson, MD USA

I had the pleasure of attending Dr. Mark Cheng's Kettlebell Workshop at St. Andrew's School in Middletown DE. It is unlikely that you will find someone better skilled at breaking down movement patterns and helping you groove the proper movement then the good Doctor. Approximately half of the attendees were RKCs and I can state with confidence that we all left Middletown with better skills and a clearer appreciation for "Hard Style." Specifically, I have found newfound found strength and power via improved breathing technique and better internal focus. Thanks Doc!

10/10 Delaware Seminar

By Deb Vollers, RKC, FMS / NJ

Thank you Dr. Cheng for coming out to the East Coast! My boss and I attended the one day seminar at St. Andrews and took home some very valuable information. We train a lot of golfers and your cues on prying and "grounding" have been added to our programming.

Dr. Cheng covered a lot of material THOROUGHLY in a short amount of time. And all along the way he made sure each person at the seminar understood and could execute the movement properly.

Excellent speaker and instructor! The day flew by and we're looking forward to Dr. Cheng's East Coast return.

10/10 Want to move better?

By Ryan Harmer, CPT / NJ

I had the pleasure to meet Dr. Cheng on his east coast tour in New Jersey. I knew I learned alot in the short 4 hour time slot he had to work with, but as I relay the information I learned to my clients I am realizing everyday how much more I learned than I thought! I feel privlaged to have learned what I did from Dr. Cheng, and am excited to help other people move better! The information was presented very well, and the cues taught were awesome.
Thanks!

10/10 Exceeded my expectations!

By Christopher Hardy, DO MPH CSCS / Baltimore MD

Dr. Cheng,
My experience at your Delaware KB Workshop exceeded all of my expectations. I have had a couple of days to try to digest all that you presented, and wanted to give you some feedback. Your presentation style and instruction was outstanding, with just the right amount of cues given at the right time. Many instructors "over-coach" and confuse the learning process, something you avoid masterfully.
For the past couple of years, I have started a complete overhaul of my approach to musculoskeletal pain management and rehabilitation, learning as much as I can about correct neuromuscular/motor patterning and movement. My patients are our nation's warfighters and protectors, so I owe them the absolute best care that I can provide.
I learned more in one day with you than I have in years of trying to sift through rehabilitation literature, and can apply it directly to my practice. This experience has reaffirmed to me that I am on the right path, and also how much I have yet to learn from professionals such as yourself. I am thoroughly motivated to continue my education, starting with a future RKC certification and CK-FMS.

Sincerely,
Chris Hardy

10/10 An Inspiring Teacher

By Julie Albert / Toms River, NJ USA

I had the great pleasure of attending a "Functional Fitness and Combat Conditioning" workshop during Dr. Cheng's recent East Coast tour. I gained invaluable insight into proper squatting and deadlifting technique. I have a new appreciation for the details that go into performing kettlebell swings, deadlifts, and especially turkish get ups. I can't remember the last time I spent 4 hours and gained SO much valuable information!

I would highly recommend attending one of Dr. Cheng's workshops if you have the chance. Everyone has something to gain if you are willing to learn. If an East Coast tour is in the future plans, I would most certainly attend another workshop!

10/10 Master of Detail, King of Cues

By Stephanie Myers, RKC / Lansdale, PA

I attended one of Doc Cheng's first ever East-Coast Kettlebell workshops last weekend. Hard Style, Hard Density. I left that day knowing (and feeling) what that means.

Doc has the ability to break down movement patterns in a way like no other. Very complex, yet he makes it easy to understand. His cues really enabled me to "fix" more than one kink in my deadlift, swing, and TGU. From deeper understanding of the prying technique, I was able to increase my straight bar deadlift significantly this week already.

His instruction also gave me a long list of cues and techniques to use with my own clients. Can't wait to try them out! His sense of humor made the day fly by.

Thanks Doc. Looking forward to seeing you again in the future to show you my "rockstar" pullup. (can it really happen?)

10/10 On the Mark

By John Lauber / Exton, PA USA

Wow! After working with kettlebells, without any formal instruction except for DVDs and books, Dr Cheng's workshop has changed my whole approach to the kettlebell. While I thought (and worked for) what I thought was proper form, Dr Cheng's ability to break down the parts and then put it back together gave me a renewed appreciation for the overall movements. The dead lift and swing felt more crisp and made it feel like less effort. His teaching of the Turkish get up showed me where I had been compensating (incorrectly) and even without weight showed its uniqueness as an all over body move. My lats and glutes reminded me the next day. There was no low back pain (which I would sometimes feel) the next day either. His use of verbal and tactile cues will help you realize where you're body should be moving with proper form. He has some great stories about his work with other RKC's from Masters down, as well. If you have the opportunity to attend a session or workshop with Dr. Cheng I highly recommend it. I look forward to him coming to the East coast again next year and I now have a greater appreciation for what Hard Style means.

10/10 A precision teacher

By Al Wood ATC, CSCS, PES, CES / Middletown, Delaware

Dr. Cheng uses precise, efficient auditory and tactile cues to take complex movements and make them easy to learn. I appreciated his attention to detail in laying a foundation of simple movements and posture that slowly developed into more complex kettlebell exercises. By the time I picked up a kettlebell, I was fully prepared both physically and mentally to perform a swing, even though I had never done one before. Dr. Cheng was positive, but absolutely demanding of correct and safe form. During breaks I enjoyed his humorous story telling about his experiences with other instructors during his extensive travels. It was a tremendous learning experience.

10/10 A real tackler

By Taikei Matsushita RKC II / Tokyo Japan

He has soul and spirit larger than size of his body, fierce and intense. Since CK-FMS was focused alot on NFL, I would use a football expression. He's one of those undersized player who's a hard tackler, one who tackles a sure touch down play from behind.

10/10 Setting THE standard

By Dennis Frisch, RKC, www.dennisfrisch.dk / Copenhagen, Denmark

I was very fortunate to be assisting instructor for Team Cheng at the RKC 09, Copenhagen. I knew from his contributions to the RKC manual and Kettlebells from the Ground Up, taht his knowledge and skills are masterly. During the cert the good Doc worked diligently in order to make the RKC candidates the best they could be, at which he profoundly succeeded. In short he expects candidates to give their best and in turn he will give his. In this case a very good trade off.

Furthermore Doc made a continuos effort to make sure we as assistants improved our own skill as practitioners and coaches. I look very much forward to work with Doc in the future.

10/10 Strength and Humanity

By Dr. Zolnai Vilmos / Debrecen, Hungary

Dr. Cheng was my Team Leader at the RKC Instructor Certification Course May 2009 Denmark. He didn't need to correct my techniques too much. However, I learned a lot! He set an example in how to consiliate strength with humanity, enthusiasm with safety, severity with friendship.
I was deeply impressed with his ability of how naturally he could convey the information just to improve our skill, despite the fact that he had the opportunity to share just a small portion of his knowledge.
Thank You "Doc", I owe You so much!

10/10 Sunday's With Mark

By David Bradley / Encino, CA

Mitch Albom had "Tuesdays with Morrie", lately; I've been having "Sundays with Mark." Since Sunday March 1, I've been dragging myself out of bed at 5:30 AM every Sunday morning to head down to Clover Park in Santa Monica for an hour (sometimes more) in dissecting the basics of Kettlebell training.

But why? Why was I here? I haven't had to get up at 5:30 in the morning since... well, NEVER! In college, I went to bed at 5:30. I'm somewhat of a morning person now, but not that much of a morning person. At least until now. It doesn't matter what time I hit the hay on Saturday night or how long I was at work, by late Sunday night, I'm itching for 5:30, a nice warm cup of coffee and a little reading before hitting the 101 to the 405 to the 10, exit Centinela, right turn on Ocean Park, U-turn into Clover Park and away we go!

So how did I get here? After attending and surviving February's RKC in San Jose I wasn't quite certified yet. I left with homework and an opportunity to fulfill a dream. On Sunday, I was told that I needed to hone my teaching skills. This was a bitter sweet moment for me. One crucial error on my part was, after 3 years of Kettlebell training, I had never had a session with an RKC. I truly believe that had I spent some quality time with an RKC and started my 5:30 Sunday ritual with KBLA 6 months prior to attending the RKC, I'd have passed with flying colors. Hindsight truly is 20:20. That being said, I don't believe in dwelling too much on the past unless it is a pleasant dwelling. I prefer to move forward, improve and grow.

Now it's 7 am on a chilly March morning. My first time out at KBLA. On this day, we work our Swing and Snatch. Lesson for the day... "long neck as if you're punking a kid." Not quite as eloquent as a Pavel "as if" but it was just what I needed to hear to drive the point home. That was just the beginning as I started to hone my basics and this time, I approached it from the point of view of, "how am I going to teach this to others?"

As the Sundays passed, I felt more and more confident in myself as my own skills with a Kettlebell fine tuned themselves, courtesy of Dr Cheng's instruction, attention to detail, simplistic explanation and a little tuff love thrown in for good measure. I've learned how to better drive from ground up, use my glutes more, keep my lat's tighter, chest open and of course, have a long neck. So far we've spent a good amount of time on the basics and field stripping the Swing and the Get-Up. We've built the foundation and continue to build on it to make sure that this foundation is the most solid foundation.

My Sunday's with Mark have built on the ground work laid out that beautiful February weekend. I am grateful for all his encouragement and instruction. I feel lucky to be able to train under him. He is passionate about Kettlebells, his classes are demanding, specific, easy to understand and fun. I have embarked on the rewarding journey of becoming an RKC. To find simple and safe ways to pass this priceless knowledge of true strength along to others. When you become stronger in body, you will automatically become stronger in spirit. This is an ideal package for living. If you find yourself in Santa Monica and are ready to kick it up a notch, give Sunday's with Mark a try.

10/10 Most Beautiful Demonstrations

By Shin Tanaka / Seoul, Korea

I paticipated in the workshop held in Seoul, Korea featuring Jon and Doc (I am a Japanese living in Seoul).

The demonstrations by Dr. Cheng were the most beautiful I have ever seen. Especiall, the spine allignment through movements was kept natural, which impressed me so much. He taught how we can achieve such perfect forms in safely and effectively.

For every question, he has a precise and strong answer. For example, how to engage lats for pressing was my long-time question, but his instraction clearly showd the way.

The teaching style is sometimes humorous, but very accurate in terms of techniques, and very severe to safety.

Though I am not a fitness pro, my eyes have gotten very sharp on others' movements after the workshop. This is another gift from Dr. Cheng. If someone wants to be an instractor, he/she cannot miss a chance to go with Dr. Cheng.

Last but not leaset, Dr. Cheng is a great motivator for trainees. I still feel like as if he were around me when I pick up my KB.

Thank you very much, Dr. Cheng! Hope to see you soon.

10/10 " 'Do' Believe the Hype"

By Mike Visscher, BS, CSCS, RKC / Rancho Cucamonga, CA

It has been my honor to know Dr. Cheng since I first became RKC Certified. Doc served as an assistant at the course I attended and, despite belonging to another group, he went out of his way several times to help advance me through the course. Maintaining contact with him since that time has helped me in many ways; he is a great encouragement to me.
My recent attendance at one of Doc's private seminars reminded me again of how skilled he is. His unassuming communication style puts his students at ease as he presents start-to-finish information for beginners which is sufficient in detail to keep the interest of more advanced students as well.
Doc's ability to teach "in the moment" is impressive. He seems to anticipate every question with a confident response, which is given in a simple, yet articulate, and sometimes humorous manner.
Thank you Doc I wanna be like you!

10/10 A FINGER POINTING AT THE MOON

By Eamonn Deane / San Francisco,Ca USA

This last RKC cert testing in san jose I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Mark Cheng.Albeit it was a brief meeting ( I was talking to one of his students at the time about Gung-Fu)everyone was busy and milling about, all intent on moving the whole experience forward, yet his earnest focus on me as we met ever so briefly let me know what manner of man I'd met.Having been around for some time now in the Martial Arts world. I can say with all confidence your time would never be wasted in training with Sifu Cheng. He embodies what true Martial Art is about.

10/10 Seoul KB workshop

By Norman Tabalujan / Jakarta

I thoroughly enjoyed the Kettlebell workshop in Seoul. The host, Mr. Kenneth Lee, was very helpful and the instructors, Dr. Mark Cheng and Mr. Jon Engum, were fantastic. I was overwhelmed by the experience and honestly didn't expect to learn so much in 2 days.

The quality of instruction and details presented were worth ... let me put it this way, after listening about valgus collapse and how to perform the swings the hard-style way, I felt I already made a 100% return on the cost of the workshop ... and that's less than half of the first day.

Personally, what helped and influenced me the most are the information and instructions about valgus collapse, straight feet, hard-style swings, and the Turkish get-up.

Still, the best lesson I learned was that I haven't been pushing myself as hard as I could; that given the right circumstances and motivations [Dr. Cheng's now-famous "Spartans, what is your profession?" line, which I think could be Kettlebell Korea's unofficial motto] I could do more and go further.

For all of the above, Dr. Cheng, I thank you.

10/10 Great Experience!

By Kenneth Lee / Seoul,South Korea

RKC pre-workshop with Dr.Mark Cheng in Seoul was so great,It change my concept with new and real hard-style training method. After the pre-workshop, people getting realize what is difference between Kettlebell and the other equipment.I and my friends want to open RKC Certification course also in Seoul, and hope Dr.Mark Cheng will come over here again.

10/10 Outstanding

By Gary Lynch / Riverside, Ca.

I first met Dr. Cheng on the recommendation of my martial arts and RKC instructor Sifu Gary Toppins. I had been struggling with a persistent shoulder problem for years and no amount of massage, acupuncture or medical advice seemed to be helping. In one visit Dr. Cheng conviced me that my problem was one of muscle patterning. He showed me that through movement awareness and proper kettlebell technique the problem could be quickly resolved. Needless to say when I found out that Mr. Toppins was inviting Dr. Cheng to do a seminar at East-Wind Martial Arts I was very exited and signed up my wife, daughter and son in law as well as myself. Dr. Cheng did not disappoint.

Before we even touched the kettlebells Dr. Cheng meticulously went through mobility and muscle patterning exercises with easy to understand language and examples. Next he explained and took us through the dead lift, swing and TGU breaking down each part in detail to make sure that everyone of us, experienced and newbie, understood how to safely perform the movements before using the bells. In a short period of time I saw one student with extreme mobility issues go from not being able to lift himself off the ground in a naked get up to a full get up with a 12 kg. I personally have been working with kettlebells for about a year and thought that I pretty well had it down. However, with his keen eye and attention to detail Dr. Cheng was able to find and correct, in a positive way, all those little mistakes that might otherwise go unnoticed and inhibit good technique.

Dr. Cheng obviously takes great pride in his students progress. He knows how to motivate and encourage his students to reach beyond what they thought they could do as my entire family can attest. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a workshop with Dr. Cheng drop everything else and do it. I don't think that there is anyone that wouldn't benefit greatly by his instruction. I can't say enough about how thorough, knowledgeable, motivating and funny he is. Thank you Dr. Cheng. I can't wait till next time.

10/10 Great instructor with a wealth of knowledge

By David Burnham / Seoul, South Korea

Recently I had the chance to experience Dr. Cheng's coaching first hand when he visited Seoul, Korea to teach a two-day RKC prep course. Throughout the two days, I was blown away by not only his knowledge but also his coaching skills. The amount and detail of information was incredible but thanks to great coaching, it was not overwhelming. His explanations of the why and how of hard style were some of the clearest and best I have heard.

If you get a chance to attend one of his seminars do it! You will not regret it and you will learn a lot no matter how much you thought you knew!

10/10 Experience & Expertise

By Jeremy Layport - RKC TL / San Jose, CA

At the recent San Jose RKC (09) I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dr. Mark Cheng, whose experience and expertise shows in every aspect of his teachings. His confident, easy going manner makes him approachable, while his detail oriented nature will challenge even the most skilled student. He has that innate ability to handle the most novice of student and easily transition into working with elite, world class, athletes. If you're ever in the Santa Monica, L.A. area I highly recommend giving Dr. Cheng a try to improve your kettlebell skills and your physical needs.

10/10 Wonderful experience

By Marc Evensen, M.D. / Irvine, CA

I recently had the good fortune to participate in Dr. Cheng's REBOOT seminar at the California Martial Arts school in Irvine. I was a 3-4 hour session packed with insight and practical information. It's amazing that some results and that some "reprogramming" of movement patterns can occur in such a short period of time.

As a (Western) physician who teaches and practices Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I am always looking for other ways to achieve goals with patients, and other ideas to enhance the scope and training of our resident physicians.

This seminar has not only improved my attention to my movement patterns, but also has made me even more interested in learning more about Functional Movement and Kettlebell training. I look forward to other events with Dr. Cheng.

10/10 Wonders Never Cease

By John Spezzano, RKC / Hollywood, CA

I've been training with Dr. Cheng since shortly after he got his Level 1 RKC and have been in his Sunday morning lineup since day one. Last Sunday he did the TGU in details like I've never seen before. As a practicing RKC with clients of my own Sunday's class was enlightening and helpful on both those levels. Now my personal practice can improve, and I can guide my clients in even better detail and safety. I thought so highly of the class I posted on it in my own KB blog: http://hollywoodkettlebells.blogspot.com/2009/03/ive-been-actively-training-russian.html

Dr. Cheng is a prime example of the evolution that Pavel's KB system is constantly undergoing. Improve understanding. Improve technique. Improve safety. Gain results like never before.

I cannot recommend training with Dr. Cheng highly enough.

10/10 Train here first!

By Randy Shoemaker / Simi Valley, CA

Dr. Cheng,

I wanted to thank you for your instruction last Saturday in your class. Kettlebells are way different than your typical weights or weight bearing exercises. They require your type of instruction which is exact, clear and precise. From your instruction I was able to clearly understand the difference between just picking up the kettlebell and swinging it around to getting the most benefit possible out of proper execution of each move.

All the marketing videos do us no favor with this product. Your exact instruction is what people should consider when using kettlebells.

Thanks again!

10/10 Simply the Best

By Audrey Evans / West Hollywood, CA

How fortunate I am to have found Doc Cheng's kettlebell class. He is not only a master instructor, but a master communicator, as well. In two sentences he was able to vastly improve my kettlebell technique. He sees what needs to be addressed, and addresses it. He's definitely hard style, but has a way that women can relate to as well as men. I LOVE his class!

10/10 A great Instructor!

By Chuck Saxon / Los Angeles, CA USA

Dr. Cheng is one of those rare people who has a gift for teaching. He is not just a fantastic practitioner of Hard Style, but he can watch someone's form and see the one little change that puts everything else in place. His teaching reflects his knowledge of anatomy, function, health and martial arts.

As someone who was looking to make sure that his back did not hurt when twisting in the awkward positions that I end up in while working on patients in a dental chair, I ended up getting a lot more. I have not felt as strong since my days in the corps.

Anyone who can get the chance to work with Dr. Cheng owes it to themselves to take advantage of it. I would recommend him without reservations to anyone.

10/10 a coachs coach!

By Darrell Banning / Tucson, AZ

My dad taught me at a young age to be a coach not a critic (critic just tells you what's wrong, a coach tells you what's wrong and teaches you how to fix it). I first met Dr. Cheng aug. of 08.I only spoke with him briefly the whole weekend. So when I saw him again feb. 09 I was very shocked that he remembered me. I was really intimataded it being my first trip as an asst. instructor. With so many senior and master RKCs there with a world of knowlege and experience. I felt from the get go Dr. Cheng took me under his wing and help me settle down and do what i'm good at and that is teach others. When i would be with a victom and look up all I wanted was that smile of approval from Dr. Cheng so bad that when i got it, it felt as good and a pat on the back from my dad. Thanks Doc for your leadership
and coaching me to be a better coach. It would be an honor to work with & learn from you again! My dad also taught me to be your best you have to learn from the best. So I have your book and dvd! I promise to make you proud of my Turkish Get-up!

10/10 Don't Miss a Dr. Cheng Class

By Shaun Thiesen / San Diego, CA

After reading most of the reviews, I agree with them fully. Dr. Cheng's classes have a unparalleled level of detail. I felt stronger and smarter after working out with him. This is all very impressive and Dr. Cheng is amazing. Dr. Cheng is one of the best. With that said. I would like to add that Dr. Cheng has an amazing way of making his classes very entertaining. I am not an instructor, personal trainer, or therapist, I am just someone who walked into Harris International and got thrown into the whole Kettle Bell class less then a year ago. The classes I have taken with Dr. Cheng are amazingly entertaining, I could sit and listen to Dr. Cheng for hours just learning from him. Very few of my college professors could deliver a lecture like Dr. Cheng. Learning from Dr. Cheng just happens it doesn't take any effort. Just being around him you will learn by "osmosis" just getting near the guy will make you smarter. Some how this motivated me, learning more, knowing more, made me want to work out more, get stronger, get healthly, and get a Balanced Body, to be a all around athlete capable of anything. Thank you Dr. Cheng!

10/10 Dr. Cheng's Workshop - Experience of a Lifetime!!!

By Karen Gallo / San Diego, CA

I had the privilege and honor of attending Dr. Cheng's outstanding kettlebell workshop at The Harris Academy. Dr. Cheng's vast knowledge and experience of kettlebells and body mechanics enlightened me to proper basic kettlebell movements. His attention and ability to convey details allowed me to execute each move with ease, efficiency and the awareness of doing the movement correctly.

I have spent my entire adult life catering to the "no pain, no gain" mindset of working out. Dr. Cheng's workshop changed my whole approach to strength, endurance and cardio training and conditioning. In a few short minutes, Dr. Cheng gave me the awareness and tools to change my lifetime of incorrect form and posture thus saving me from continually "strengthening my dysfunction".

Thank you Dr. Cheng for the gift of your time, expertise and mentorship. I would recommend to anyone at any level of kettlebell experience to take the opportunity to attend a workshop by Dr. Cheng.

10/10 Beginners welcome too!

By Petra Van Baar / San Diego, Ca.

If you asked me a couple months ago, I wouldn't be able to tell you what a kettlebell was. Our humble class was told that Dr.Cheng would graciously be coming to instruct us. There was A LOT of buzz about him and I felt very privileged. I had only swung a bell in about a half dozen classes up until then. After the hour of precicse, descriptive and colorful intruction given us, you could see the light bulbs going off and the dots being connected class wide. We were given so much invaluable information in such a short time! I am confident that his extreme depth of knowledge and skill put me on the best possible foundation to build from, and how very important form and technique are. I look forward to the next opportunity to learn from such a highly respected and gifted teacher. I am grateful to have had such a rich opportunity so early in my KB experience!! Thank You Dr.Cheng...
future RKC candidate hopeful!

10/10 One of the most underrated instructors in the world

By Darryl Grauman / Auckland, New Zealand

I have known Dr Mark Cheng for about 12 years. I stand by the fact that he is most probably one of the most underrated Martial Arts and conditioning instructors in the world. His years of research into traditional and eclectic Martial Arts, combined with his study of physiology and an unparalleled teaching style make him one in a million. His ability to convey concepts logically and systematically, then back them up with physical application is exceptional. Where many coaches will take the shortcut to short-term gain by adding speed and strength to dysfunction, Mark will work to strip the strength and speed in order to re-pattern the dysfunction before compounding good motion with exceptional strength and speed. Good to see you finally gaining your place in history my friend.

10/10 DR. CHENG IS A GIFT

By Rachael Yunk / San Diego, Ca. USA

How honored and fortunate I was to have Dr. Mark Cheng give instruction to our kettlebell class this morning. Kettlebells bring a whole new strength to ones body. Dr.Cheng helps you understand why those changes occure and how to get the maximum benefits out of training with kettlebells. With his emphasis on the perfect body form and motion, you feel an immediate difference in your body. Not only is he a great teacher, he also offers a kindness and clarity on life. I love to see passion in what a person does and with Dr. Cheng you feel it. He will definitely help you become your best and encourage you the entire way. I hope I am lucky enough to have him come to San Diego again. If he is not here soon enough I would definitely seek him out. He is worth your time and travel if you have the opportunity to work and learn from him. THANK YOU FOR GIVING US MORE STRENGTH AND INSPIRATION!

10/10 Hard Style in full effect

By J. Yuan / Tempe, AZ USA

I had the pleasure to get educated, trained, and experience true hard style kettlebells with Dr. Cheng. His ability to communicate something you should feel is only surpassed by his attention to detail. He even inspected my kettlebells and found some flaws in the non-dragondoor kb's (DD all the way from now on). It's shocking to see what you can do (when you originally couldn't) after you work with him. I highly recommend him!

10/10 Awesome!

By Dean Gilbert-Smith / Auckland, NZ

I had been practising kettlebells for a few months before my first session with Dr Mark Cheng. Wow. What a difference. The first 5 mins with his detailed instruction and using the correct technique even without weights was such a change. The long road to rehabilation for my ruptured ACL suddenly seems a bit shorter. With a lot more kettle bells pratice I'm also pretty excited about kicking some ass in 2009. Thanks again.
P.S Thanks for the T-shirt, it fits great.

10/10 Dr. Cheng is a teacher who changes lives

By Nick Ovens / Auckland, New Zealand

Prior to Dr. Mark Cheng coming down-under, I was hurting myself swinging a 16kg kettlebell. The back pain I was getting was compounded by my poor screen printing technique that I spend most of non-training time doing. After one week with precise instruction from Dr. Cheng, I am now using "hardstyle" in all aspects of my life, from my screen printing technique to picking up objects around the house. Not to mention, I am now safely working with a 24kg kettlebell. My back pain is fading away ! If you want to learn how to use your body in a more functional, powerful way, then hunt down Dr. Mark Cheng to be your instructor.

10/10 a whole new perspective

By Luke Carlisle / Auckland, New Zealand

I hate doing this kind of thing and have never done it before. I have been compelled to write something by the combination of the enjoyment and future benefits that I will get from kettlebell training and my teacher Mark Cheng. I have been lucky enough to have started learning kettlebells in the past 7 days. I would have liked kettlebells no matter the teacher, but it is an absolute bonus when you have someone who is as passionate, educated and vocal about the benefits of kettlebells as Mark. All I have to say is, if you get a chance to start learning kettlebells (or even want to learm more), find Mark to teach you. An invaluable learning experience! Thanks mate.

10/10 You AWESOME MASTER CHENG

By Howard Hsiao / Rowland Heights, Ca

I study traditional Kung Fu and through my instructor we had the pleasure of meeting RKC Instructor Mark Cheng and have been doing training with him ever since. His instruction is very detailed and demonstrates through example & form. He is intent on developing the very best from his students and to give them the encouragement and the tools to reach desire goals. I can gush all day about how great of an instructor he is but you can see by the amount of people that he has trained, helped, and instructed that he has a wealth of knowledge to impart. Thanks Master Cheng.

10/10 The Complete Package!

By Yoana Snideman RKC Team Leader / Revolution Fitness, San Diego, CA

Dr. Mark Cheng has the complete package. He is an incredible instructor; articulate, focused, understandable and passionate. What also strikes me about the Doctor is his professionalism. He treats his line of work with integrity and seriousness and this motivates people to learn from him. One only has to look at the quantity of people he has influenced. Many people's lives have been changed because of the Mark's influence in their lives. At the last RKC at UCLA he had over 10 students from his KBLA group getting certified. He is a TRUE LEADER!

10/10 A Great Teacher Inspires

By Rannoch Donald RKC / Scotland

Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand

I can't think why I've not done this sooner. I had the gift of Mark's attention for a couple of days while he was here in Scotland for a couple of HardStyle workshops.

Mark is that rare, rare creature. Someone who can articulate, demonstrate and inpsire. The time I had with Mark one to one was a real focus on my own skills and he plugged the gaps in my knowledge with a firm patience. Mark sets the standards high because he knows the commitment required to achieve them.

Perhaps even more important was the time I had to watch Mark over the course of two workshops as he taught drilled RKC program minimum here in Scotland.

Mark is the embodiement of RKC. If you are one of those people lucky enough to have him on your door step I hope you make use of his talents.

Slainte!

10/10 Hard Style Training with Dr. Cheng

By Mike Daly / Los Angeles, CA USA

I have now had the pleasure of training twice with Dr. Cheng and look forward to training with him on a regular basis. If you want someone to deconstruct kettlebell training and show you what it can do for you, Dr. Cheng is your man. No amount of DVD's, books or online videos can compare to a workshop with the Doc. Even those people who feel they 'know it all' about kettlebells would still learn something new from him.
If you live in the Los Angeles/Santa Monica area, you really have no excuse not to pay this man a visit! You will be humbled by the amount of knowledge you will come away with. Words just cannot do justice to how highly I regard Dr. Cheng.

10/10 A 10 is just not high enough

Doc rates a 12 without a doubt!
I would let Doc teach my son no questions asked.

10/10 Great Instructor, motivator and a nice guy.

By Bryan / Antelope Valley/ Southbay

I have heard and read great things about Mark, from his instructor reviews, his posts on the DD forums/his blogs, seeing him at the UCLA RKC cert and from other RKCs recommendations. So I joined the Kettlebells Los Angeles mailing list and decided to head down to see for myself.Got up at 4:45am and drove 75 miles each way to train with Mark at Kettlebells Los Angeles this morning and it was worth every minute of it.
Mark is knowledgeable and easily approachable. The respect his students show him reflects what a great instructor he is.Mark has a great eye for details, and it shows in the several RKCs that he has trained that attend the class.I was paired off with Rich Endo who has a great attention to detail(which he attributes to Mark).
Mark led the group in exercises and kept everyone motivated and on track.I am fairly new to kettlebells and find it eye opening when someone shows you that little tweak that makes the little light come on inside and you have that "Ah-ha" moment.
The workout was intense without totally overloading a newbie.Mark kept me motivated when I was hitting the wall.I look forward to more training with Mark and the whole Kettlebells Los Angeles crew. I cannot recommend them enough. If you are in the area this is THE place to go.

10/10 KB's on your mind? See the DOC.

By Jose Nartea (Jr.),ATC,CSCS,RKC / Lakewood, CA USA

I am happy to have had the great pleasure of meeting and training with Dr. Mark Cheng for the UCLA RKC 2008. In the four weeks up until the RKC Instructorship, I was only able to just meet my requirements for the KB Snatch Test. With the DOC's Eagle-Eye and precision detailed observation he made a few adjustments to my technique. Along with continued training, I was able to snatch test two and a half weight classes up at the RKC Instructorship, no problem. When it comes to the higher level certifications of the RKC in the future, I know which DOC to see. Kettlebells on your mind? The DOC will fix you right up. Big props to the KBLA Crew for all the love.

10/10 An Elite Team Leader

By Steve Belanger / Westminster,Ca.

I had the honor of assisting Dr.Mark Cheng at the UCLA RKC cert.
I have to say he is an elite instructor and will go far in the RKC organization.
I picked up many new teaching skills from Doc which will in turn make me a better instructor myself.
He had ten of his kettlebell L.A.students taking the cert and all ten passed.
That to me is a true reflection of his teaching ability, skills and dedication to the kettlebell cause.
You can't find a much more qualified man to teach you.
If your ever in his area i would urge you to take in some sessions as i intend to do myself from Dr.Mark Cheng and his KBLA crew.
You won't regret it.

10/10 Professionalism Epitomized

By Rolando Garcia, III - RKC Level II / Guttenberg, NJ

I had the very special privilege of being coached by "Doc" Cheng. He is one of the main reasons why I passed my Level II Certification, in that he helped me complete a full, rock-bottom pistol on both legs. Without his precise coaching, I honestly don't see how I could have achieved this feat.

Oh, did I forget to mention that he did all this coaching VIA EMAIL? THAT'S RIGHT! Doc and I live on opposite coasts, but he was able to give me just the right details to help me fix what was, initially, a pistol that was about 10 degrees shy of 90 degrees.

With his impeccable ability to point out just the right detail to give to a student, he was able to help me break 90 degrees, and hit rock bottom.

When it came time to complete my Level II Certification, the pistol was the LEAST of my worries! The absolute least!

Thank you Doc Cheng. I still owe you drinks. :)

10/10 Thank you Dr. Cheng!

By Marc Bobys / Singapore

Dr. Cheng was my Team Leader at the recent August 2008 RKC Instructor Certification Course in Los Angeles. I can safely say that I would not have learned nearly as much and likely would not have passed the course without him. All throughout the three day course he tirelessly helped the students assigned to his Team understand and implement the massive amount of information that was being piled on us. When things got really tough he always knew how to motivate us all to continue on and to succeed. And with his great sense of humor we all still enjoyed ourselves despite the pain!

10/10 A Great Instructor!!

By Joe Chalakee / Torrance, Ca

When I started my kettlebell training it was all on my own. I needed to find the right person to correct my mistakes from be self taught. I didn't care how far it was as long as they're great instructor. One night after BJJ class I was talking to John Spezzano about kettlebells and how I needed to find a someone to train with he suggested I training with Dr Mark Cheng. When I arrived at my first class I was disappointed. EVERYTHING that has been said is Absolutely true! On top of that he make you feel like family.

I have train every Sunday since February 08 with Doc and the KBLA family, so if you want to learn how to do Hard Style KB the right way, You need to polish your technique or you are getting ready for an up coming RKC cert, the no other person then Dr Mark Cheng to help you do it. If I had not trained with Doc I would not have survived the UCLA RKC August 08.

THANKS Doc!

10/10 Pure Motivation!!

By Celina Reed / Orange County, CA

I met Dr. Cheng Through my older kungfu brothers and we all started training with kettlebels. Doc explained them in a way I could understand everything about him is cut and dry, straight to the point. I grew up around body builders my whole life and thought that was the way to do it but Doc quickly changed my mind. He helped me understand and get down form really fast because he decided that I should go through my Level 1 RKC. It was the best decision anyone has ever made for me. What Doc has given me back with kettlebells is form, focus and sheer will power.

If your looking for an excellent instructor KBLA is were you'll get it!

Thank you Doc!

Dr. Mark Cheng is bank of kettlebell knowledge. An excellent teacher and motivator. The sunday classes are HARDSTYLE and TONS OF FUN. If you ever decide to go for the RKC, and you're in the Southern California area, give your self a gift and train with Dr. Cheng "Doc".

10/10 The Best Around!

By Ron Goodheart / Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

I've had the pleasure of training with Master Cheng for the past few months now. Having participated in different exercise programs and lifting weights for years, I was initially skeptical about what I thought at the time was a "workout fad". I was blown away by Master Chengs ability to clearly and concisely communicate exactly what we were doing and how to do it.

The kettlebell training has immensely improved every aspect of my physical training. I now have more endurance while a run, am able to train harder in Martial Arts, and am stronger then I've ever been.

If you are looking for expect instruction in Kettlebells or Kung Fu, I highly recommend Mark Cheng. His mixture of tough love and attention to detail are a recipe for success.

By Robert Jay / Long Beach

Dr. Cheng is an excellent instructor. His teaching style is well organized and he pays great attention to detail in order to make sure your every movement is precise, safe, and correct. His methods are smart, practical, and comprehensive. I also like how Dr. Cheng shows a sincere concern for his students' training, progress, and overall well being. There is a great sense of community and togetherness with the KB people of LA. We are very fortunate to have such an awesome Team Leader.

10/10 One of a Kind!

By Kingston Heng / Rowland Heights, CA

I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Cheng through my kung fu teacher. Listening and learning from him has allowed me to open my eyes to the benefits in kettlebell training not only for functional strength and flexibility but for prehabilitation from back and shoulder injuries. Since training with Dr. Cheng, my back feels great and my shoulder problems are now a distant memory. His attention to detail and motivation techniques got me through my RKC Level I Instructor course! Thanks for the tough love doc!

10/10 Amazing Instructor

By Jon Kurtz / Irvine, CA

I meet Sifu Mark Cheng through my kung fu brothers, Bob Hung and Kingston Heng. Every since I meet Sifu Cheng he told me that the most important thing in kettlebell training is form. Every time I train with Sifu Cheng he always pays close attention to every movement on every exercise that I do. Always correcting me to get my best effort and best form out of every exercise. I feel very blessed to have Sifu Cheng as my kettlebell teacher and martial arts teacher.

10/10 Comprehensive Doctor and Teacher

By Fay Ho / Los Angeles

I have only had 5 RKC sessions with Dr. Mark Cheng and the results have been phenomenal. With careful evaluation of an individual's stances and movements, Dr. Cheng is able to diagnose your symptoms of back-ache, cramps, etc., at the very first session.

For me, I was constantly having problems with my knees and lower back. With Dr. Cheng's comprehensive knowledge of the body's movements, he has taught me to correct my postures while developing body strength and stamina. I no longer have knee problems. And I rarely feel lower back-aches anymore, which is remarkable as I have dealt with that problem for years. I can only imagine what would happen if I practiced Kettle Bells with Dr. Cheng's expertise in as little as once or twice a week! My overall health has improved with Dr. Cheng's help.

10/10 Attention To Details!

By Bob Hung / Hacienda Heights, CA, USA

I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Cheng through my martial arts instructor. My instructor wanted to broaden my horizons into Dr. Cheng's deep understanding of Chinese Wrestling, Shuai Chiao and also his expertise in Kettle bells. At first I was skeptical of kettle bells, being concerned that kettle bells was another form of weight lifting but I quickly realize the potential and power of kettle bells to enhance the explosiveness and usable strength it creates for the practitioner. After a month of training, the pain in my knees that has been a nagging problem disappeared. Through Dr. Cheng's deep understanding of traditional martial arts, tui na "Chinese medicine", and proper alignment of body mechanics strengthen by kettle bell training, I found myself stronger, healthier, and happier with the results it has generated. Not only does Dr. Cheng have a deep understanding on how to swing the bell, but most importantly his "Attention To Details" is phenomenal. If you want to do kettle bells, and you do not want to get hurt. Train with Doc.

10/10 Extremely Gifted Master Instructor

By Michael Wartels, M.D. / Ocala, Florida

I had the tremendous pleasure of training twice with Dr. Cheng this week and have nothing but the utmost of respect and praise for him. I was greatly and pleasantly surprised by how much I was able to learn in a minimum of time. As a physician who has been blessed with many excellent teachers throughout my training, he is among the best of the best! He utilizes the Socratic method to insure the lessons are assimilated and cemented. Dr. Cheng has a vast knowledge of the human body which he incorporates into his KB training sessions. He is extremely precise, clear, and focused, and it is amazing how he breaks down even the most complex of movements and makes them readily learnable. My two sessions with him this week were nothing short of amazing -- it is rare to meet such a gifted instructor who not only possesses such a remarkable knowledge base but who simultaneously possesses such an encouraging demeanor, facility, and passion for teaching. Thank-you Dr. Cheng it was a spectacular experience and I will certainly contact you the next time I am in California!

10/10 Excellent Instruction-HARD Style!

By Ron Jones, MS, Corporate Wellcoach / Atlanta-Los Angeles

I recently studied with Dr. Cheng and his group in Santa Monica. It was an excellent experience for both myself and my wife. Dr. Cheng made many valuable corrections with my form making my KB movements not only more efficient--but more safe. I would highly recommend studying with Dr. Cheng if you're in Los Angeles or at his various workshops. I like his style--HARD. He tells the truth with swift and sure confidence. He is a caring instructor with great respect from his students. I look forward to working and improving more with Dr. Cheng.

10/10 Great teacher

By Daniel / Los Angeles, CA

If you need a good introduction to kettlebell training, I recommend training with Mark Cheng. Because of his background about human anatomy and physiology, he will show you how to safely handle the kettlebell. His instruction contain many hints about what feeling to look out for in your body to check whether you are performing the exercise correctly. For example, he showed me how I was putting my weight on the wrong part of the foot. He asked me to do a little other exercise and therefore I could feel what I was doing wrong and how the correct stance should feel. After taking his intro seminar I ordered my own kettlebell. His instructions convinced me to start regular kettlebell training.

10/10 Deep knowledge of kettlebells

By KC Pfluger / Woodbury, MN

I was lucky enough to have Dr. Cheng as an assistant team leader while going through the RKC Cert in April. He has a great knowledge about kettlebells, how to effectively pass that information to his students in a way that is understandable and effecient, and a manner that makes working hard fun. It is a great combination and will motivate you to do your best and push the envelope. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Mark again as it will surely make me a better instructor, lifter and person.

10/10 Excellent Teacher & Wonderful Mentor

By Dong Thai / Rowland Heights, CA USA

I've been blessed to have Sifu Mark Cheng as a martial arts teacher as well as a kettle bell instructor. His attention to detail and focus on proper fundamentals that makes him a great martial arts instructor to learn from has translated directly to his instruction on kettle bell workouts. Because of his martial arts background, RKC rank, AND being a doctor, he is able to cross connect every facet of daily and athletic life.

Example: He is able to show you how certain KB exercises will help with better power generation in punches, and the structural alignment needed for optimal results and decreasing the potential for injury.

Not only is he a great person to be around (wonderful sense of humor) he will motivate you beyond what you thought was possible and help you become a better person, physically and mentally.

I recently started to train kettlebell with Dr Cheng and i do have to say it's great. His knowledge and attention to make my movements correct and precise has been great. He always makes sure that I get the best result for my training sessions and he is an endless source of information. I will recommend him to anybody that wants to make a difference in training and have great results. Thank you also to Mr Harris to introduce me to him.

Thank you Dr Cheng

10/10 Thank you Dr. Cheng!

By Larry Hogueisson / San Diego, CA

I recently made the decision to dive into the world of kettlebells. I have done extensive research on the Internet for videos, techniques, drills, etc. Fnally, this past weekend I had the pleasure of attending Dr. Cheng's seminar hosted by Mr. Roy Harris. I want to begin by saying that I'm glad I waited to have my introduction be with Dr. Cheng. I can tell already that kettlebells are going to be another life-long journey and I have no doubt that Dr. Cheng will be the perfect guide for this tour. I was humbled to admit that the details in just the first 15 minutes of his instruction were probably enough to last me a few months. I have trained under some very detailed instructors over the years, namely Mr. Roy Harris, and I can truly say that Dr. Cheng's instruction is every bit as fulfilling as any I have seen.

I have hesitated making the drive north to Los Angeles to train with Dr. Cheng, but after experiencing his instruction first hand, I know that drive would be well worth the time.

I am a Firefighter in San Diego and I will be taking the information gained from Dr. Cheng back to my department to get more people on board with it. The way that Dr. Cheng breaks down, explains, and demonstrates the functional srength developed through the use of kettlebells is exactly what we need for our line of work.

Thank you Dr. Cheng and God bless.

10/10 A wonderful balance of demand, support, warmth and inspiration

By Gabi Katschthaler / Debrecen, Hungary

I had the exceptional luck to have Dr. Cheng as my Team Leader at the RKC Instructor Certification Course May 2008 Budapest.
Not only did he impress by demonstrating flawless techniques in a graceful and seemingly effortless way, but, by letting his deep and extensive knowledge flow freely, combining his great eye for details with highly effective teaching/correcting skills, and displaying never ceasing energy, enthusiasm, sincere interest and care for each and every individual of his twenty-something group members, he actually made me believe myself that nothing is impossible if I'm just ready to pay the price - a permanent impact and influence that is still at work, even in his physical absence.

10/10 Spectacular

By Ron Farrington / East Hanover, NJ

I have worked with Doc several times now and have nothing but praise. He displays a tremendous amount of knowledge and is nothing short of spectacular with his ability to break techniques down and teach them to anybody at any level of ability. If you have the opportunity to work with him you would be foolish not too.

Dr Mark Cheng is plain and simply brilliant. As a person and Kettlebell teacher. He helped me fix the problems associated with self learning. He simplified it for me and was there to spot my weakness and strengths at all times. Not only was Dr Cheng tough with me, he also made the training fun, which really helped when the going got tough!
Yes the 'Doc' has the correct remedy.
Thank you again.

10/10 Incredible Knowledge!

By Billy Toal / Glasgow, Scotland

Dr Mark Cheng is incredibly knowledgable in a number of fields. A true rennaissance man! His expertise in Kettlebell training is immediately obvious.

More importantly, Dr Mark is able to transfer this knowledge to his students. Those of us who had some previous KB experience found our technique vastly improved and those coming to the seminar for their first taste of KBs were blown away with a whole new approach to health & fitness.

Having attended a KB seminar previously with another organisation I can safely say that this seminar was streets ahead! The seminar was not only very informative but also great fun. I look forward to his next visit to Scotland.

10/10 Simply getting the foundations right

By Chris Highcock (www.conditioningresearch.com) / Edinburgh, Scotland, UK

Sunday 16 March 2008 saw Dr Mark and Rannoch Donald RKC run a superb workshop in Edinburgh. Zen like in its simplicity the workshop concentrated on the two moves in the Enter the Kettlebell Programme Minimum - the swing and the get up. However the workshop explained from first principles how these moves are to be executed, safely and effectively.

Mark is a gifted teacher, explaining each move in detail and able to correct poor form and giving useful verbal and audible cues to help the student perfect the essential movements.

A most enjoyable day from two excellent and inspiring teachers.

10/10 Great RKC seminar in Glasgow!

By Vadim Kolganov. D.O. / Glasgow, Scotland

It was great to meet Mark this weekend. He's got very special qualities and is a fantastic instructor. His enthusiasm and thorough approach to his teaching got the best out of everybody and his clear instructions combined with a keen sense of humour made the day educational and fun - not many instructors can manage both! His therapeutic approach to kettlebells was inspirational to me and I am already employing his techniques in my clinics. I can't wait till Denmark to learn more!

10/10 Glasgow Workshop

By Will / Liverpool

I had my first introduction to kettlebell training on saturday, which was luckily with Dr Mark Cheng.

WHAT A REVELATION AND A PRIVELEGE!!

Being a personal trainer for nearly 6 years I now struggle to imagine training my clients effectively without involving at least 1 of the techniques I learned, as no others seem to tick so many boxes as KB's. My initial scepticism quickly evaporated as Dr Mark's enthusiasm, passion and depth of knowledge on not only KB's but on their many wide and varied applications for rehab and increased performance. Dr Mark's teaching style is very precise and the many pointers on technique he gave us throughout the workshop make learning so much easier, I could'nt wait to practise.

I would like to thank both Dr Mark and Rannoch and look forward to the next instalment, soon!

10/10 a big THANKS from Glasgow!!

By Rod McCauley / Glasgow, Scotland

Hi Doc,
thanks a million for your inspirational workshop on Saturday in Glasgow. I had never used kettlebells before and now I feel confident in adding them into my training and teaching others what I learned. Your teaching style was very focused and clear. I'll be looking out for your future workshops and courses etc. Thanks also to Rannoch for organising the event.

cheers

By Stuart McDade / Glasgow, Scotland

Dr Mark,

After your class in Glasgow on Saturday I felt that I could teach the Russian get up with so much more confidence. The day after I went to the gym with my wife and had her doing the Russian Get Ups after only 5 minutes of instruction and she loved it.

I hope you come back soon as she intends to come along and meet you the next time you are teaching in Scotland.

Thanks

10/10 Seminar - Glasgow, Scotland

By Jonathan / Glasgow, Scotland UK

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a seminar in Glasgow with Dr Mark Cheng, which was organised by Rannoch Donald - Scotlands only RKC coach. It was a privilege to be taught by someone with such in depth knowledge on kettlebells and there effects on the human body. His knowledge and attention to detail were impressive.

His teaching style was highly imformative and he was able to pass on his knowledge of correct kettlebell techniques. He started with the very basics of kettlebells and explained the importance of understanding and mastering these correctly. Thanks to his teaching and demonstrations of correct techniques, my own knowledge and confidence with kettlebells has improved. I am now also able to appreciate the importance of practicing and mastering the basic foundations of kettlebell techniques.

I was very impressed with Dr Mark Cheng and would highly recommend that anybody with an interest in kettlebells or fitness/strength training take part in one of his classes. I am grateful to Dr Mark Cheng for visiting Glasgow and sharing his kettlebell knowledge and very much hope he will return. A big thank you to Dr Mark Cheng and Rannoch Donald.

10/10 True refinement seeks simplicity

By DJ / Los Angeles, CA

It was a privilege to be part of his workshop. His teaching methods were simple yet truly effective. I have been going through rehabilitation after a lower back surgery and he has introduced me to whole new set of techniques that would speed up my recovery process. I have become a believer in RKC.

10/10 A leading innovator in 'medical kettlebells'

By Dr. Obi / New York City

Not only is Dr. Cheng an inspiring and talented instructor, he is taking kettlebells in innovative directions by emphasizing their use for rehabilitation. While giving you all the strength and cardio benefits of normal kettlebell routines, Dr. Cheng highlights the methods of using them to prevent and rehabilitate injuries. If you want to get strong, in shape, rehab injuries, AND STAY HEALTHY, Dr Cheng is the man to go to.

10/10 Extraordinary!! Addicted to

By Diane Lee-Swanson, RKC Instructor / Campbell, CA

I am so grateful to Dr. Mark Cheng. I feel extremely privileged to have had him as one of my Team Leaders at the recent RKC certification in San Jose.

He is sincere, genuine, and a totally gifted and passionate instructor, in addition to being fun to work with and totally down to earth! ALL of Doc Cheng's many credentials and impressive bio may be intimidating, but he is not boastful about it. He commands and deserves utmost respect, but definitely makes you feel like you've known him forever.

He has a keen watchful eye for all the details that make kettlebells a fun and effective tool for training. He gives you cues and instruction that makes perfect sense as he encourages you and makes you feel like a champ for getting it right.

Thank you again for being an awesome Team Leader and instructor. I am truly grateful and honored to know you.

Most Respectfully,

Your humble student,

10/10 good motivator

By Gary Toppins / East-Wind Martial Arts Riverside Ca. 92503

I first started going to Sifu Cheng for Tai Chi instructions, to expand my knowledge in the Martial Arts. Being an instructor of Martial arts myself for over 35 years, I was looking for a certain type of instructor. I wasn't disappointed, my criteria was intenseness, passionate, and above all sincerity.

We started talking about the benefits of kettlebell training, especially in relating to the Martial Arts, and we added kettlebell to my training. That bloomed into thinking about certification; we put everything aside and focused on the RKC.

He is a good motivator and can articulate his point of view so one can easily understand and transfer it into proper technique in training. The intenseness and his passion prepared me physically and mentally for the challenge of the RKC.

With his guidance, in February 2008, I became an RKC instructor; and as a side note for anyone who may read this, I travel 3 to 4 hours round trip to train with Sifu Cheng, I believe that speaks for it's self.

10/10 Great Healer and Guide

By LeRoy Beavers Tai Chi Student / Los Angeles, California

I first contacted Dr. Cheng to study Tai Chi. I have been a student of many forms of martial arts but my injuries started to make things difficult. As we went through the routine I was limited by knee and shoulder injuries suffered while playing football about thirty years in the past. After a year of study I was introduced to the use of Kettlebells. So along with the Tai Chi I am swinging this canon ball with a handle. About a year of this exercise in it various forms took place. There were a number of challenges that came along with this training. I complained but followed the teachings.

Dr. Cheng was always altering the exercises and giving greater challenges motivating me to improve and get stonger. Well the proof is in the way I now feel. Working with Kettlebells has given my whole body a different feel. The pain that I once felt in my knee and shouler is no longer an issue. I have no soreness anywhere in my body. I really feel great. You can't lose by trying kettlebells. I do not know why it works but it does. Thank you Mark for all your teaching and understanding.

10/10 Awesome and inspiring instructor

By Grace Chiplinsky - RKC Instructor / Los Angeles CA

It took Doc took just months to take me from doubting 'newbie' to a skill level high enough to get my RKC. His teaching style is motivational, encouraging and yet tough........you had better bring you game with you when you come to one of his training sessions. Even though Doc's knowledge is phenomenal, you will be aware that he is constantly learning and acquiring new skills. It is a great thing when you find a teacher who is dedicated to learning; it means that you will always be pushed to learn more.

His Sunday morning classes at Santa Monica beach are fantastic; it is a great group of people attracted by an awesome and inspiring instructor. You will always learn something in this class no matter what level you are at....and if a workout is what you are after......you will get that too.
Don't say I didn't warn you :)

I have been active or training in some form or other most of my life, but nothing compares with Kettlebells for getting you into shape. If you are unsure about Kettlebells, as I admit I was in the beginning you will be TOTALLY converted after a class with Dr Mark Cheng.

Thanks to Dr. Cheng for opening my eyes to the power of the KETTLEBELL.
Since your KB clinic at the Harris Academy I have become a true

feel the "synergy" throughout my body.

I urge anyone who wants to improve physically and mentally to train with Dr. Cheng.

Whatever training problem you have, Dr. Cheng knows how to fix it! I had problems with my Kettlebell technique, and he fixed them. I had shoulder and back problems and he fixed those too. And what is even more amazing is how he can fix your problems with so much patience, humor and efficiency.

10/10 Kettlebell Workshop was OFF THE CHARTS!

By Harris International / San Diego, California, USA

Dr. Mark Cheng's Kettlebell workshop this past weekend was brilliant. I learned a lot and had a great time!

Midway through the workshop, it became obvious to me that Dr. Cheng had spent A LOT of time under the personal tutelage of Mr. Pavel Tsatsouline: His review of the basics, his attention to detail, the in-depth explanations and vivid analogies, the kind and caring attitude, and the mixture of humor and wit into the training made for an impressive and memorable experience!!

For those of us who attended Dr. Cheng' workshop, we had his undivided attention for four GLORIOUS hours! I am still revelling over that Kossack / Pistol combo !!

Thank you Dr. Cheng for sharing your knowledge with my students and I !!!

10/10 A Staggering Breadth of Knowledge; An Impeccable Eye for Detail

By Mark Rosenthal / Pacific Palisades, CA

I have had the great pleaure of training with Dr. Cheng for about five years. Although he had not specifically studied my style of martial arts, Kenpo, his training techniques, his vast knowlwedge of marital arts and his unparalleled attention to detail were instrumental in preparing me for my black belt exam, a grueling 4 hour test of strength and endurance.

His knowledge of bio-mechanics, physics and anatomy ensure that his students train correctly and safely with Kettle Bells and his skills as a healer are invaluable in resolving the injuries than can accompany intense training in martial arts.

Do not miss any opportunity you may have to train with Dr. Cheng.

He conveyed the information in a simple, systematic and interactive manner. He clearly knows how to teach and has a great eye for detail. I would highly recommend training with Dr. Cheng and look forward to training with him again in the future.

By George Caines / Simi Valley, CA

Dr. Cheng is a legend in the making; he is a highly qualified instructor with excellent leadership skills. The good doctor emphasizes proper form in all the drills and techniques. With tremendous enthusiasm and energy, he clearly explains and demonstrates the RKC system concepts.

The most important thing I learned from Dr. Cheng is to use the body and mind as one unit, a simple, yet advanced martial skill, an invaluable lesson.

If you ever get the opportunity to train with him take it!

10/10 Breadth and Depth

By Rich Endo / Los Angeles

I am continually impressed and benefited by Dr. Cheng's extensive knowledge in various areas concerning physical strength, health and martial arts. Dr. Cheng's many years of teaching is evident in the way he leads a group class. He has a good eye for detail, and is skilled at correcting for safety and performance.

I took several private lessons from Dr. Cheng when I first started training with kettlebells. I was able to make very rapid progress due largely to his guidance. He was always challenging and encouraging at the same time.

I highly recommend Dr. Cheng.

10/10 Dr. Cheng knows his stuff

By John Wild Buckley RKC / Oakland, CA

I have been swinging kettlebells for over three years and always knew I was missing something. I was strong but not as strong as I could be or should be. Dr. Cheng recognized and fixed my problem right away. I went from not being able to double-snatch the 24k's to double snatching the 40k's in a few weeks! I always knew it could happen and Dr. Cheng showed me the way. Thank you very much.

10/10 A great teacher and motivator

By Dom Uguccioni, RKC / Colrain, Massachusetts

I highly recommend Dr. Mark Cheng as an RKC???I had the pleasure of ???Doc??? being one of my group leaders at the recent September, 2007 RKC. He is highly motivated and very knowledgeable about Kettlebell training. He is a very effective teacher and has a great eye for troubleshooting technique flaws, he helped me improve my technique dramatically at the RKC. What I really enjoyed about his style was he is just as quick to give a compliment when someone???s technique was correct as he is to give a correction if it is necessary. If you are interested in learning Kettlebells Dr. Cheng is your man; he will get you pumped up and work you hard, but at the end of the day he still knows how to crack a few jokes to take the edge off.

10/10 Talented Healer and Trainer

By Carrie Dale, RKC / Exton, PA, USA

I met Dr. Mark Cheng at the RKC course. In my enthusiasm for the course, I overdid it a bit and injured or cramped my triceps (both arms) in such a way that I could not press or snatch the bell. In 10 minutes Dr. Cheng fixed whatever was wrong. I did not even need any ice or Advil or anything. Thanks to Dr. Cheng, I was able to complete my technique testing to receive my RKC. I can't thank him enough!

10/10 Attention to detail, tremendous insight, and a great sense of humour...

By Thomas / Los Angeles, CA

Within ten seconds of my first kettlebell session with Dr. Mark Cheng, he'd already caught and corrected a fundamental flaw in my swing technique. The instant he spotted my mistake, he proceeded to explain what corrections I needed to make in such a direct and concise manner that I was able to make the necessary adjustments without even interrupting the set.

Mark and I go way back, I was one of his students back at UCLA, and I can say with complete sincerity that his attention to detail and strict adherence to proper form are second only to his good nature, great sense of humor, and incredible depth of wisdom.

Oh yeah, he'll also work you like you've never been worked before... and you'll love it!

10/10 The Best of The Best!

By Jon Engum RKC Team Leader / Minnesota

I had the opportunity to observe Mark Cheng in action. Mark was going through the Russian Kettlebell Instructor Course where he not only performed flawless techniques but had to teach these skills to several new students.

I must say Mark has the rare ability to convey his skills in an effective, fresh, innovative style. Combined this with his extensive knowledge of the human body and you have an Instructor who will deliver extreme results.

If you are looking to fast track your strength and conditioning, you MUST seek out Mark Cheng.

10/10 AMAZING!

By Stephanie Chang / Los Angeles, CA

I met Dr Mark Cheng after a hand injury, where the hospital had told me that I would most likely need surgery to heal. I had resigned myself to just live with a gimpy left hand. Dr. Cheng treated my hand and right after that first treatment I could see the results. I wasn't able to grip a pen before and now I can press a 26lb kettlebell without a problem! In fact, I think my left hand might even be stronger than my right hand at this point!

I have nothing but the best things to say about Dr. Cheng. He never ceases to amazes me in his training technique, his attention to detail and most importantly his respect for his students.

By Mark Hayes. / Sheffield, England

June 2007, I was on my annaul Holiday in Los Angeles, to train at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts, while I was there I had stressed an intrested in training in Kettlebells, Guro John Spezzano, put me in touch with Dr Mark Cheng, after a few emails we managed to meet for my first session training with Dr Cheng and kettlebells, and "what a session".
Dr. Cheng, covered the basics starting with the correct positioning of the feet, the sqaut, the swing, in fact just good solid basic technique, which as we all know is the foundation for anything, Dr Chengs attention to detail is second to none.
I have been involved in martial arts for over 25 years and I can honestley say Dr Cheng is one of the most meticulous Insturctors I have had the pleasure to train with.
"WOW" did i feel it the day after.....!!!!!!!!
If you are in L.A and want to train in Kettlebells this is the guy for you.
I know "I will be back", can't wait....!!!!!!!

Dr. Mark Cheng is an excellent instructor. He explains everything very clearly and methodically. He knows how to motivate me and get me to push myself farther then I thought I could. As you can see from all the comments above, he is truly a special person.

By Genelle Gaudinez / Los Angeles, CA

I have been training with Mark for one year as a martial artist and was surprised when my training partners were the ones who noticed a considerable increase in power in the delivery of my kicks and punches. As a 5'0" tall female, kettlebells have improved my ability to stand my ground in the most rigorous of sparring sessions. I owe this to Mark and his sound kettlebell program. As a result, I now consider kettlebells integral to my training regimen and recommend Mark with the highest confidence.

10/10 A demanding, but patient teacher

By David Bornstein / Los Angeles, CA

Sifu Dr. Cheng is one of those rare individuals who can teach, inspire and demand performance at the same time. He is very precise and thorough in his explanations, including an empsis on safety. He then motivates his students to perform at a higher level than they thought they could. I have had the opportunity to learn from Sifu Cheng for the past year and a half and have never left a class not having learned something new and looking forward to the next session.
