9/10 Great introduction to the kettlebell

I finished the fall community education course lead by Roxanne and it was a great introduction to strength and conditioning training with kettlebells.
I felt compelled to write this review today because here in MN we just got our first big snow dump in over a year. I was out shoveling snow and it was clear that the muscle memory I developed from kettlebells helped me perform the ballistic movements for shoveling deep snow more easily. The class helped me to develop core strength and good lifting habits that keep my lower back and spine safe.
The class was fun and challenging. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to develop strength, conditioning and mobility through a simple exercise program.

I signed up to take Roxanne's class with my sister. Community Ed, how hard could it be?! We didn't really know what we were in for....but it turned out to be a great hour each week. We were honestly glad when the class was over each Saturday, but learned SO much from Roxanne and I feel stronger than when I started weeks ago. I am also proud of myself for never quitting. Roxanne made the class fun, she was very informative and always wanted us to do our very best and was sure to have us do the movements with proper form each time. She pushed us harder than we would ourselves and I think that makes a perfect trainer! I would defintely take a class from her again and would encourage anyone looking into a kettlebell class to take fromo Roxanne. She was excellent and will teach you the fundamentals or push you to the next level of fitness!

I just completed my first kettlebell class session with Roxanne through Maple Grove Park & Rec; I loved it! She constantly changes the routines to keep it challenging and interesting, while making sure everyone has correct form to prevent injuries. She's a tough trainer but keeps it positive - it has a very motivating effect. I never dreamed I would have so much fun swinging that stupid bell, but it's addicting. A huge thank you to Roxanne for introducing me to a strength building AND cardio workout that I will stick with =)

This is my second Kettlebell session with Roxanne and I'm hooked. I love it! Roxanne is inventive, never the same routine, and she works every part of your body. She is knowledgeable and extremely helpful and always emphasizes safety while pushing us to work as hard as we can. Roxanne's passion and commitment to fitness are inspirational. Thank you Roxanne for introducing me to Kettlebell! I've been amazed at how quickly strength is gained and the total body workout that can be achieved in an hour. I will definitely be back for more!

I've taken a total of 12 classes of kettle bell with Roxanne. She is a knowledgeable trainer providing the "why" behind technique and she is serious about technique and safety. From week to week workouts would be different and varied which made them both fun and challenging. The workouts outdoors were ideal because we got a two-for-one: being outdoors in nature and building strength and cardio at the same time. Roxanne knew how to push beyond what we thought we could do but wasn't overboard. I like how she challenges us to use heavier weights. She is passionate about kettle bell.

Coming from a background in traditional weight training, former competitive bodybuilder, and healthcare, Doctor of Chiropractic, I found Roxanne's knowledge, attention to detail and concern for her students to be on a level way above other trainers I've worked with.
One of the best benefits I’ve found is the vast increase in functional strength, flexibility, and agility. These are a very important to me as I am Firefighter with the Mendota Heights Volunteer Fire Department and the demands we face physically can be very stressful. The “Fire Ready” fitness as Roxanne puts it is extremely important to all Firefighters and I highly recommend my brother and sister Firefighters take RKC classes from Roxanne.
She not only presented and demonstrated the exercises, but she also did the routine along with the class. This form of KB training works both the cardiovascular and the muscular systems simultaneously to give you a workout far superior to others I've tried. Roxanne's passion and expertise shine throughout; she is truly a gifted instructor....

Roxanne is one of the best fitness instructors I have ever experienced. Her kettlebell class is extremely challenging. She explains the movements, makes sure you are using proper form, always has something different for us to do, and interjects her life experiences into the class to make it fun as well. I've been taking her class since September and have noticed a positive difference in my fitness stamina and overall health. I never want to miss this class--addictive!!

I am a reluctant exerciser and have finally found something that I'm sticking with thanks to Roxanne and kettlebells. I started going less than a year ago after having my second son via c-section and carpal tunnel surgery, hoping to rebuild strength after the surgeries. I am getting stronger than I imagined, and have found it gives me lots of energy to keep up with my two little boys as well as being a huge stress reliever. I actually feel bed if I need to miss a class, a first for me! Roxanne's class is never boring, a supportive environment, a good push to go to the next level, plus she gives us lots of suggestions and routines that we can use on our own outside of class.

I thought I would try a kettlebell class for something different in my weight loss and exercise challenges. I was not sure what to expect, but from the very first class I felt comfortable with Roxanne and she was an inspiration to me. She watches your form and helps you with the correct positions. She is very approachable and I really enjoyed the other equipment she brought in to class. She is a wealth of knowledge and very professional. I enjoyed her class and would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their body and health. She will help you every step of the way!

I was introduced to kettle bells during Roxanne's community education class. I didn't know what to expect; I thought, "maybe this will be some people goofing around with funny-shaped weights but at least it'll be something different from my regular routine." The very first class Roxanne got us up-to-speed on the basics and pushed us to work harder than we thought we could. She knows her stuff!

This is my third session of the class and plan to continue. I've learned a lot from Roxanne and there are many weeks that I'm extremely sore from the class. But, I've toned and built up a lot of strength. Roxanne does a superb job in showing the different kettlebell exercises, stretching exercises and shares her personal experiences with us. I was in a car accident 2 years ago. since then I have been training with Roxanne. The training has helped with my posture, strength, and overall wellbeing. In the nursing field using good body mechanics is essential and kettlebell is instrumental in helping with this. Iam constantly challenged in Roxanne's classes and pushed to the limits. I have advanced from an 18 lb bell to 26 lb bell after 6 sessions. Kettlebell gives me the energy needed to maintain my busy lifestyle.

As a couple we tried several exercise programs we could do together, but differences in speed, time spent, and level of interest got in the way. Once we tried Russian Kettlebell with Roxanne Altmeyer we were hooked. With the different weights and a variety of exercises it's finally something we can do together and still get a good workout in. Roxanne always makes sure that our form is good, we're not putting ourselves at risk for injury, and keeps us on our toes by mixing things up so we are both challenged. With an upcoming wedding it's a great way to spend our time together, reduce stress, and have fun. It's one of the few things that will get you out of bed early on a Saturday morning.

Roxanne teaches an excellent kettlebell class for both those just starting with kettlebells and people with kettlebell experience. Before taking a class with Roxanne I had been working with kettlebells for about a year and every time we had a session I was learning new exercises and improving form on the basics. Roxanne has a great ability to make interesting workouts for classes. The atmosphere in classes is very welcoming. The thing that really makes Roxannes' classes a great option is that she clearly has a passion for kettlebell fitness and it is obvious in the enthusiasm she presents.
As far as kettlebells as a fitness tool they are good for working strength and cardiovascular fitness simultaneously which especially helpful if time is limited. Kettlebells are also good for getting back into fitness after an injury. In order to rehab some shoulder issues I used kettlebell workouts and it has worked very well.

Today was my first Kettlebell exercise routine. I only performed a few exercises with limited reps and I can sure feel it.
Roxanne is motivating, experienced, dedicated and passionate. She believes in this stuff and it shows in her instruction and her strength. She explains each move thoroughly and makes sure I was doing each move correctly.

I've completed my second session with Roxanne. What I appreciate about her workouts is that she is passionate about her skills, and, she wants you to get the most out of your workouts. She's very approachable and seems always willing to help with the proper technique. She has a good eye for spotting faults in one's form. My goal was to do it properly to get the most out my workout. Some of my benefits I've noticed is that I am a stronger cyclist and my reactions on the tennis court are quicker than before. I am looking forward to my next session.

Looking for a different kind of work-out that would fit my busy schedule, I signed up for one of Roxanne's Kettlebell Classes. Initially I was intimidated that I could barely lift the weights on the first class, but intrigued when Roxanne said not to worry because I would soon be lifting with ease. Indeed she was right! The class is challenging, fun and so rewarding. I can feel the difference - with improved flexibility and strength. She is positive and encouraging, but also is sure to remind students to "go at your own pace". It's a great way to start your day - I signed up again!

I'm taking a community based Kettlebell class with Roxanne. My initial reason for taking the class was to learn proper technique on the basic exercises, Roxanne has delivered that and more. After only 5 sessions (and some workouts during the week)I've lost 7 lbs and experienced improvements in posture and strength levels. My take away from the class is that the kettlebell is an effective workout tool with endless variety that will satisfy my fitness needs for a long time to come. Thanks Roxanne!

Initially the class was overwhelming but after researching on my own more of kettlebells I discovered that Roxanne is right on with her training. It's a very hard core class and can be imitidating but Roxanne was helpful in showing me other ways to work with the bells that worked better for me. I am signed up with Roxanne next session as would love to see more results. Feeling better about my body and feeling stonger.

I am always looking to change what I do for workouts and taking the Russian Kettlebell course from Roxanne really fit the bill. The workouts are hard, but Roxanne does a very good job of explaining the exercises, how to do them properly to avoid injury, and she has a good pace to the class. I am using this program to help alleviate shoulder pain from tennis and biking. It seems to be working as I have more muscle strength and less shoulder soreness. Thanks Roxanne!!

I had recently seen an ad on the benefits of using Kettlebells. Then a friend told me about a class being held at the Fridley Community Center. After meeting Roxanne, I was very impressed with the knowledge she had with Kettlebells and her dedication to impart that knowledge to the students. She is very disciplined on using correct form and technique. Very important for the safety of the student. Roxanne also provided individual attention to students with old injuries or other difficulties to be sure they would benefit from the class. A fun class to return to.

I had a life changing moment concerning my health in July 2008. From that day forward I have been on a journey to restore my physical health, and to do what I was told wasn't possible. I have been quite successful with my journey so far, but I wanted to add something new to my routine. Then one day I was paging through the Columbia Heights community Ed booklet and I noticed three free classes, one of which was Russian Kettlebell. I was not familar with Kettlebell, but thought it sounded interesting. That introducory class is when I had the pleasure of meeting Roxanne.
Kettlebell and Roxanne where just what I needed to renew my commitment to my health lifstyle changes. Over the past 6 weeks, I have found that my strength have improved greatly; especially my core strength. I have noticed a change in my body as well; reduction in abdomenial size and increased muscle definition. I like the challenge & versatilty that Kettlebell offers. Roxanne's teaching style is motivating; you can feel the passion and drive that she posses for Kettlebell. She will encourage you to move beyond the mental roadblocks that stop you from pushing yourself physically. You will be amazed what you are capable of...It is truly empowering!!!

Roxanne has an excellent way of motivating both the beginner and the more advanced student. No matter what your level is you do not get bored in her classes. She takes the time to check on all of her students to make sure they are performing the basic exercises and drills correctly. I was in a car accident and banged my knees up pretty bad so I can't always do every aspect of the exercises. Roxanne has shown myself and others with similar injuries how to modify the exercise so you still get the benefit without additional injury to yourself.
This is the best workout I have ever had. In three sessions have noticed the strength in my arms and hands has increased as well some definition on my arms. My clothes have started to fit differently also. I owe it all to Roxanne.

Roxanne and I are members at NE Kettlebells (Michael Rendle, instructor). When he was away, she led our training session. I was impressed by her diverse knowledge of static drills, as well as moving drills. I felt like I got a thorough work-out without the risk of hurting myself. She did a good job encouraging us to work hard and she paid close attention to our form, so that we would not get injured. She knows what she's doing!

I had no idea what Russian Kettlebell was and so as Roxanna trained (her boot camp) and then studied to be an instructor she kept me updated. Roxanna then volunteer to teach a class to the Air Force recruits and I thought it would be a great idea. Needless to say, they all got a very good workout and wonder when she would be back. They LOVED her! She selflessly gave her time and talent and I am very appreciative! Thank you Roxanna, you're a 10!!

Today I had my first KettleBell lesson.
Roxanne was very good at explaining and demonstrating a number of basic exercises. Everything was incremental. So I would learn one thing at a time. I would practice it. I would get a constructive and instructive commentary and I would practice again.
It's shocking how strong this woman is. And how easily she maneuvers the kettlebells.
There were a couple of times that I did not think I was capable of doing some of the exercises. But she did not rush me or berate me. And with exception on may be one exercise, I was able to complete at least one of every one she demonstrated.
This was serious workout. And it was fun too.
I would do it again for sure.
