This is a great book for getting and keeping yourself srong! This is my 'bible' for calisthenics training. Thanks Coach!
It was a good live review of the pushup chapter from the book. But it unintentionally (I think,) accented the importance of using a slow with the exercise. Gong down on a two second pace, pausing one second at the bottom, and then rising on a two count, ads tremendous value to the exercise. When I did the book course originally, I topped out before getting to the one handed push up. I suspect that, given recent gains, that should be able the master the one armed push up this time around while using this cadence.
This is an outstanding video, very well produced and the explanations are clear. I highly recommend this, it’s inspirational.
I enjoyed John's work. I feel rejuvenated and recharged. The only thing that I can have problems with at times is the language. For instance, the stomach energiser. It is unclear so my guess is to buy the DVD. Apart from the language, it's perfect. I religiously practice them. Thank-you John.
This technique is awesome; I have never felt so great in such a short period of time by applying just one set of joint exercise from this magnificent manual. In a matter of two weeks an annoying sharp pain on my spine has disappeared almost entirely. Thank you very much for providing support and a complete variety of techniques for pain sufferers. I will certainly share this type of exercises with my friends and family.
John's Qigong Recharge is a great DVD for beginners. I liked John's morning recharge at the Sept. 2006 RKC so much that I had to buy the DVD so I wouldn't forget any of the movements. The wall squat in particular is unbelievable for warming up your whole body for hours. We need that here in Minnesota. The rest of the movements are easy to learn with John's detailed instruction. I'd recommend this to anyone who needs to get their body moving again. The elderly in particular would enjoy the non-impact elements of qigong. Very healing and stimulating.
I am very pleased with the Qigong Recharge DVD. It energizes and relaxes as promised.
I really enjoy this DVD. As a hard style kettlebell trainer I'm finding these movements especially useful. They really help to "balance" my practice. For the older lifter like me this practice is a great and I think necessary addition to one's daily routine. They help to counter the little aches and pains from a lifetime of hard training. As one gets older, joint and organ health is increassingly important. This DVD is just the ticket. It's fun and energizing. And It's good for you! Just do it.
Per "Doc" Cheng's recommendation at the 2009 CK-FMS, I purchased John's Qigong Recharge DVD & Manual. As I read the manual on my flight home, I couldn't wait to get home & practice the movements.I haven't felt this relaxed & recharged in a long time! For those in a high-tension work environment or with just high stress levels in general, I highly recommend these products. You will feel rejuvenated! This will be a staple in my routine and help complement my training. Thanks again John & DragonDoor!
I just watched John DuCane's qigong recharge last night, and had my first practice with it this morning. I think this is an excellent dvd. The joint mobility drills are excellent, much like what you would find in SuperJoints, but with a qigong pace. The actual qigong drills are easy to do, and a lot of fun. Qigong is still new to me but I really enjoyed this set of drills, especially the "tapping" exercises. I am planning on using this set every morning, and the Bliss and Serenity qigong exercises in the evening. Qigong Recharge is an excellent addition to anyone's exercise routine, I highly recommend it. Thanks again DragonDoor, for another excellent product.
This DVD is excellent! I presonally use the drills that John demonstrates as a great form of active recovery from KB workouts. As a personal trainer starting my day as early as 5am, I have also found that doing the exercises in Qigong Recharge my clients feel more focused and energized before starting our KB routines. A quality product for sure!
The demonstrations are easy to follow. DuCane turns his body at different angles to the camera so you can see just what he's doing. That man has strong and flexible legs -- but he says you don't have to go as low as he does to get the benefits. Boy did my legs feel the work -- it looks so easy and it's not that hard doing it, but the next day.... On one exercise he says it's important to do both sides but he only demonstrates doing it on one side. You have to do the other side without his modeling while he talks about the benefits. All in all, this video is going into my stack to be repeated. I like it.
My goal: To learn QiGong although I am a complete beginnerJohn Du Cane gives very clear instruction and is easy to follow. The camera shows the movements very well. The movements are effective and do result in more relaxation and improved energy.Du Cane explanes how each movement improves health, which is inspiring and a bonus. My goal is met with this DVD.I have 2 suggestions to improve this DVD. I would have liked some musical background that would help with relaxation. I also would like a DVD that shows exercises with instruction--and then gives a follow-along section that can be used for daily practice. I think I will find the instruction distracting once I have learned the movements.
Can't recommend this piece equipment enough. After being a gym member majority of my life, now in my late 40s the group circuit training and dynamic weight lifting increasingly started leaving me feeling sore and with the DOMS more and more and my motivation and consistency started dropping, so I started building my own home gym set up and adjusted the workouts to suit, incorporating a lot of mobility, flexibility and cardio, as well as dumbbell training. What was missing was the ability to push max loads. Training on my own and not wanting full squat racks and big plates, meant I wasn't pushing my strength training. After researching and trialling different types of training, isometrics made a huge amount of sense and was backed by in-depth science, history and results. The isomax is amazing, it takes up basically no space, you can go to your comfort zone or push well above with no ceiling, I have had no injuries to date and can see and feel the results.I would however recommend you build your own template around the holds you want to do regularly, that records what loop they are on, so you can clip and unclip easily and quickly on to the next exercise as well as recording as you go what your max hold was. For me this has helped with focus and speed of sessions.I also added two cut off foam ends that wrap onto the bar for calf raises and the Zercher squat. The battery life is also amazing. The Isomax is not a latest trend piece of equipment and will be a regular weekly staple device for me for many years/ decades to come!
I am extremely pleased with the Isomax! I have been using it to rehab a shoulder and the results have been remarkable. I will be back to repurchase the Isomax for other family members. Thanks, DD!
Was skeptical that this would be worthy of the price tag, but it absolutely is. Rugged, intuitive, survived a recent move to Europe. Bravo.
I am located in Germany an recently ordered the ISOmax. The product was shipped and delivered within a few days in perfect condition. I was planning on using the ISOmax mostly for rehabbing my hips thigh after injuries and constant pain, accompanying my KB training, but I decided to go all in with the Isos. After 6 weeks I am very happy with the kind of training the ISomax provides and the results.I have never witnessed strength gains as fast before, I am able to work on my weaknesses and after years of ongoing pain and mobility restrictions I already see and feel a dramatic improvement. I walk more smoothly again and the pain is significantly reduced. I can truly recommend the ISomax.Bjoern
I've been using the Isomax for a little over two months at this point. It's great. If the exercises are performed correctly, there's no chance of injury. Compared to traditional strength training, it's safer, more effective and takes way less time. It also feels really rewarding breaking lift records and seeing a new number on the screen.
I'm only a few weeks into this work out, but that's further than any other workout lately. After years of taking care of others and letting my own health deteriorate, I need to build back up. This work out is already common sense in that I can see practical strength-building--carrying groceries, controlled sitting and standing movements, picking-up and reaching for things. All the sorts abilities that my mother slowly lost as she aged.I started out going through the training/intros a couple times. Then did just part of the strength building section, working up to the whole section. Now I'm slowly adding in the cardio workout. That core strength section is so important though, I can tell that is what my body really needs at this point to be able to move on to other activities. I did get Du Cane's book too, and the DVD and book work nicely together.I hate going to a gym and using focused machines and exercises. It's boring and that's not how we move in real life. The efficiency of the kettlebell exercises just makes sense. I also really like the athletes in the video--those are people and bodies that I can relate to and move in ways I can imagine doing myself some day!Good job, thanks for this intro to kettlebells. I hope my journey with them is long and fruitful.
I bought this dvd a while back; I messed up when following one of the workouts, and I didnt do it again until lately. Then I bought Andrea DuCane's book Ageless Body and when the book arrived, I did this dvd again. It is a great workout! For me, it is a return to kettlebells workouts; I had 'burned out' and quit on them, for several months. I was pushing too hard, too much weight, and wrong techniques all led to being hurt. Now, I know better; this book and her Boomer dvd with its instruction on proper technique and safety will keep me on the safe, correct way to swing and enjoy swinging kettlebells again. I am 60, I recommend this dvd AND her new book as a set.
Thank you Andrea. I tried the "powerbell" from a certain competitor who does nothing to explain how to safely use the kettlebell. I am 55 years old with an artificial hip and chrondomalacia patellae. No padding behind the kneecaps. My doctors grudgingly okayed kettlebell workouts. Now I have a kettlebell workout for my age group. I tried for advice on the forum but got no response. (Thanks a lot guys.) My only question is how do you know when to work up to heavier kettlebells?
My Wife an I are beginners to Kettlebells and this DVD has been very helpful at instructing us on what to do when starting the RKC way of using a Kettlebell. I have in the past been a Runner,Cyclist,Triathlete and spent some years lifting free weights but did not want to go back to the free weights that take so long to work individual muscle groups but I do want to gain overall strength and be able to go back to running instead of walking, cycling outside instead of stationary and swim eventually to triathlons but I must loose weight and get in shape first to begin again. My Wife just wants to gain some strength and do some cardio with the kettlebells and loose weight in the process and I think that now we will be able to begin our quests thanks to this valuable DVD. We do not have an RKC or CK-FMS available anywhere near us but I have found an HKC within 50 miles that may be able to help us some and I may use a Personal Trainer certified in corrective exercise with over 20 years experience at that and is a runner, triathlete himself. He also works with people my age and works on balance and muscle strength balance and flexibility. I hope someone in my area will become RKC,CK-FMS certified but am looking at HKC courses in Texas to take myself.
Wow this video hits home for the beginner kettlebell boomer. Well taught as usual and made for the first time kettlebeller. Easy to follow and with 4 choices of execution anyone can start getting fit with kettlebells - safely and effectively.
The Kettlebell Boomer is a fantastic product! Having officially entered the second half of my life (with almost three years experience) it is a pleasure to see people a little less young and buff (but still obviously in great shape) doing the workouts. Andrea Du Cane is an exceptional instructor. Her attention to detail is clearly microscopic, and her workouts are extremely well set up. I have done some follow-alongs with the DVD, and have gotten a fantastic workout. This DVD totally changed my perceptions of kettlebells. It has shown me that some of the exercises I was a little apprehensive about doing (because of a lifetime of injuries) are completely doable. Great job, Andrea! Keep 'em coming!
